if you mean the motor that spining the disk no . for the moment there is not solution . buy  another replase pcb. or a new mt1335we ic , and replase it .

I want to contribute a little bit, what I am been doing 100% successfully with the 0225, 0104.
1- and most important don't be cheap, invest in good tools if you don't have.
2-Always do a good measure of the quadrant, not because always is near to the K mean the spot is there.
3-Dont use dremel(you can do it with a needle{takes time but is better than screw a PCB})
4-Always combine USBPRO and VIA card, USBPRO to extract the key, VIA to unlock, USBPRO to flash.
5-Heat the needle tip with a candle do some dig, blow the hole, do this 5 times and you will get it.

I have done 25 using this procedure.

Now I have a problem I dont know if someone else already face it, here is the thing.

I flashed a 0401 with LT 1.91, I played for 2 days, and no problems, I decide to connect it to Xbox Live.

I was going to play FIFA 11, when I was doing updates the console stop reading, now does not read backups nor genuine, I removed and reflashed again, same problem.
Motor spins, tray opens just fine, the laser light lit up fine.

Any idea.

P.D: I flashed the drive with the stock and wont read genuine.

Did you try to put a another drive with your FW just to check ? Were you running on 13.599 before you did the update ?
Just to make sure we are talking about a slim 0225 here right ?

Did you try to put a another drive with your FW just to check ? Were you running on 13.599 before you did the update ?
Just to make sure we are talking about a slim 0225 here right ?

unfortunately I did not check the previous dash now is 13599, probably tomorrow I will try another 0225

Now maybe is too late, but try and see if it works.

Just a little input. The SPI status locked/unlocked won't affect reading discs backups/originals. Locking the SPI again is more a precaution for XBOX LIVE and dash updates that in the future might check for SPI status. Your problem looks more like a programming/setup issue or even a bad reader... did you try the other 0225 drive ? Let's forget the SPI status for now, That's NOT your problem. Unless MAYBE if you came from a dash 12.625 or under and updated straight to 13.599 and the update caught your SPI status of 0x00 (unlocked) instead of 0x8C (locked, the way a standard 0225 should be). But have in mind i am going a long stretch of imagination here because i never heard of this happening NOW with this present dash. This is the scenario some people think will happen in the future, that's why there is all this discussion about locking or not locking the SPI after the firmware flash. The masters of the forum are more well equipped to answer to this, but anyways try the different drive, so people will know how to help you best. Good Luck

check your laser and motor spin probably one of it screwed, so new pcb or chip is the best choice.

before drill i'm used x360usb for reading key
and next used via vt6421 and i have the same problem of your with :

i don't know how to fix it, i change via6421, usb motherbroad Asrock 880GMH and click read and anything work fine. Don't know why but i still you my mobo sata chip.

I use onboard intel 82801eb chip set  sata port.
Can you tell me how exactly how do you read 0225 key using slimkey? I tried it in and not in vendor mode, I got "slimkey fail" all the time.
Tomorrow I will try different PC.
