just to clarify something after the hole is done we still have to do the sputnik 360 method right?
No sputnik360 is only for MX SPI and the drilling is for Winbond please read before posting I know but the drive doesnt get in vendor mode after you make the hole right? to get it in vendor mode we still have to do the cut the trace etc like the sputnik 360 ? no trace cut with WINBOND only for MXIC!

Fenix are you searching for glory ? Try with a glory hole, it's more suited for people like you ! I apologize for trying to help friends.

call me crazy, but if your physically cutting the connection with the dremel to unlock, and the point floats after (seems to be since people can relock/etc with a lighter/etc).... what are the odds that ms could just end up detecting this hack later on? im sure the interference inside the 360/etc would be more then enough to pull down/up the connection allowing ms to just 'sit and wait' to see if the drive will try and unlock/lock itself..
correct me if im wrong.

Yo everyone! I wanna thank the God "Geremia"!!! You're the best!!! I have a little problem doing this hack! I followed all instructions well but when I drilled the hole, after I've reached the contact inside the chip, the app (UnlockSPI.exe) said "undervoltage error" with numbers! Please can you tell me what's the problem guys? I'm using a 130ohms resistor and maybe that's the problem. Thnk you fo your replies!!!

You can't tell directly from software what the WP state is. All you can read back is the SPI status register, which if locked correctly after flashing will be 0x8C irrespective of what the WP line is doing. They'd have to be bombarding the drive with write enable and status register commands to change that status (i.e. what SPIunlocker.exe does), so I'd say pretty unlikely.

Can the germania method be done with just a standard viacard like we have always been using or is a x360usb or lizard required?

If you have problems booting windows after changing the mode, use this fix http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976
