you have to turn to one side and the other, I used a soldering iron 30w, after heated through, all 20 were 100% flawless!
Fenixgames, I challenge you cannot make a video showing you doing the process. I'll be happy if it does indeed works but for me it sounds like not true.

Unlocked my 0225 Winbond 1040 chip with a simple Needle on 3,3V (100ohm). It took more Time, but it feels more safer. Pics:

I'm no camera is simple to use soldering iron to make the hole, and need not be connected to 3.3 volts, this will prevent damage !!
he will not provide a picture, simply because he can't. you cannot melt the chip using soldering iron. but i have 200W soldering iron that can melt your tongue for good. am i right VICTOR. you are the same person who makes cursosgames FAKE videos.

Is not fake, I'm without my camera at the time, repeat the procedure I'm doing, soldering iron of 30W, the exact point in March put the welder on the spot and spin it, the unlocked within seconds, do not say it's fake no without proper procedure. so I'm with my camera with photos and videos prove, q ue believe before that someone will have done the correct procedure.

it is fake, the chip will give "false-unlock" at 100°C as soon as it cools down, it will get relocked. and obviously you don't even know what you are saying.

Erm, he's not full of it... This took less than 1 min to achieve, most of the time was spent waiting for the little light to say the iron was hot (and I slipped of the corner of the H and melted the breadboard a little...) The main ingredient in the case of black IC is epoxy resin (it's not "real" bakelite, like old cue balls)... it's a bit more compact, has a few more ingredients and thus a bit harder to remove on an IC case, but it's still very similar to the other epoxies. I have kept a 25W soldering iron around for years, with a really odd/sharp tip, strictly for shaving epoxy off contacts (when heated epoxy becomes crystal/brittle, and in most cases a heat gun is overkill.) It works perfectly for those little blobs where the die is bonded directly to the circuit board instead of encased in resin before mounting, for getting at single solder points under chips that have epoxy surround like some xbox drives, and as you see I just tested on a random PIC IC casing... with a needle point at 640F solder station the black material is extremely easy to penetrate/shave and I could probably bare a good number of the leg/bondwires in it rather quickly and without damage... in fact I have done so i the past to repair broken legs on a similar casing. Kinda surprised this method wasn't made popular by the Wii drive modders. Also seems to me it would give a much better tactile sensation than a dremel that vibrates your hand to sleep. I definitely don't recommend putting 3.3V to your soldering iron, or doing this with your iron while the machine/drive is powered - most irons are grounded for static dissipation. BTW: once you sever the wire from grounding to the pin it's basically an open collector, even just having your finger close to the bond wire (or a Q tip or anything else really), or sometimes just touching some random place near the ground plane can be enough to cause an open collector to go weak high.

Dude, get rid of that f***ing picture, it's turning my stomach Looks like you all owe HKFenixgamesDD an apology too, jumping on the hate bandwagon for no good reason. Had a little practice on a dead hdd...

No 3.3v is required Lots and lots of people here in Brazil doing only with dremel without the 3.3v line Just did the test Set the iron on the max temp and this is the result of less then 2 min, very precise, will try on a virgin board later

One question HKFenixgamesDD how fast do you reach the bonding wire with the soldering iron? I want to try your method but I don't want to push the iron to hard
