Hi Everyone, this is my first post. Sorry for repeated "Bad NAND Flash" thread, but I can`t find working solution for me.

I have XBR Jasper with 16MB NAND
With Full working dump and CPU key.

I was try to update XeLLous with nandpro lpt: +W xell-1f.bin 40
But operation was break down in the middle of writing

Then my console power on but nothing shown up on the screen (and X green lights does not lights on startup), only one green led on the center of power button.

When i try to rewrite NAND i got error:

Testing LPT device address:0378
Testing LPT device address:0278
Testing LPT device address:03BC
Could not detect a flash controller!
Can not continue

I`m using homemade LPT flasher.

I read and try all of shorting pins methods and still can`t connect to Flash controller
Tried also fast-Switch-On method, same result.
Checked All connection wires and they are seems intact.

Any ideas or suggestions?  Huh

PS: Now thinking to barrow NAND flash from my old Xenon console and put it in this one`s place. Is it possible to reprogram it in same way, or it`s good to rearm myself with patience?  Undecided

My other option is Cygnos, but it`s a little expensive for me.   Sad
Is anyone knows other direct access flasher for these NAND chips?

Sorry for my Broken English...

first off i think your commands are off:
nandpro lpt: +W xell-1f.bin 40
needs to be
nandpro lpt: -w16 xell-1f.bin 40

anyway, try this:

Sorry my write mistake, command I usied for rewrite all NAND was:
nandpro lpt: -w16 XBR_RedElite-XeLLous1_0-RE2-Jasper16_8955_3.bin

Yes, I tried all of shortpin methods, couple of times. No one with success.
It`s does not want to recognize FlashConfig.

Shorting all pins, turning RED light on my PSU. So I do it only to data pins.

have you checked your LPT wiring?

Once I had a Jasper which had a damaged SPI Port, only way to flash the NAND was to install an Infectus chip. But this is not very likely in your case I suppose.

If I swap NAND, did I will have any graze problems? I have old falcon and xenon for pecking/digging up.
They all are with 16MB right>?

MRA: How did u detect SPI port damaged? Only I can view is "no comunication with NAND Flasher". Can recognize is NAND or Flasher is problem.
Wich Infectus u can recommend me?  Undecided

Gazcoigne: I recheck LPT wiring with multimeter and they are OK. My problem was caused after breaking the NAND Flash process. Sad After that i lost any comunication with my lovely NAND.  Embarrassed

I`m out of ideas.

In case you got the timing wrong create a msdos script with something like the following:

Code:
:TOP
Nandpro commandline
Goto TOP

Then try the fast switch on method and switch the mains power on and off a few times as the script loops.

utar: I was tried looping with switching ON/OFF.  Nothing different for now. Thanks for suggestion.

I think going to NAND swap tomorow... I do not see any other exit.

Depends what is wrong.  If the nand chip is damaged swapping it for a new one will work.

If the SPI interface is damaged swapping the nand won't do anything.  Although you could use an external programmer or Infectus.

Before you get out the soldering iron have you tried another PC in case the lpt port is damaged?  Given you are talking about removing the nand I am assuming you are better then me at soldering and you have triple checked your wiring and that there are no shorts etc?

I recheck the Wires again, but all are OK.

I can`t explain myself. How it will stop working suddenly, just after bad flash with breaked Flashcontroler comunication.  Undecided

As you say, maybe NAND was fused or SPI port was damaged.

I haven`t a Modchip, it`s difficult to me get one now. I`m faar, faaaaaar away from developers/reseleres. But thinking to get one.
Are they Reprogram Internal NAND chip, or only External NAND and take internals place? Can i reprogram internal NAND only and take it out of console?

What do you know about External Programers, throw me some crumbs pls. My soldering station is smoking and I`m ready to get dirty. Grin

I has not a different PC with LPT, only Notebooks laying around me. God I hate modern technologies, if only I get this > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ajay_Bhatt USB inventor guy, Grrrr.
I was liked Serial ports, they are like friends - Easy to comucate. Usb`s are like puberty school-mates, only nagging.

[I hope you`we got my point, I`m embrassing myself with my poor English. Sorry]

The behaviour you are seeing can be caused by the SMC being corrupt.  However the fast power on method / nand shorting should enable you to recover.  In your case it clearly isn't, so either your xbox is awkward or something is broken.

Infectus will enable you to reflash the nand without removing it from the board, it does not take the internal nand's place.

I have never used an external programmer so I can't recommend any.  Perhaps some of the hardware guys here can?

I`m prety sure something was messed up, when NAND flashing was interupted.

Can`t understand why LPT does not connect to FlashControler, tried fast switching and shorting data pins method couple of times. No one seems to work.

Do you think I have a chance to end up with corupted NAND with no-comunication with it, when flashing process was interupted?
If it`s a minimal chance, I can do NAND Swap.

My best option is external reprogramer, which you can recommend me for my situation? Infectus2/Cygnos360v2 ? (PS: Sorry if it`s an Advert)

I hope someone have an experience with homemade NAND programers. I have not reselers in my country.

you can wire in a card reader and have an external nand that can be written to in a seperate USB reader

cant remember specifics but its on this board if you search

seen an ace install by plexo

Gazcoigne: Do you mean xD card method? I`m digging for it now.

Is the Cygnos360 reprograming internal NAND or only take NAND`s place? Is anybody knows?

yes sorry about the vagueness late and tired

the cygnos has an onboard nand that you can program through its own SPI interface not using the xbox's hence the ability to resurrect an xbox with a blown SPI

Sorry for disturbing Gazcoigne, please take a rest.

If you peek  Wink

I shine with 2 options now:

[1] I`m going to buy 16MB xD card and Olympus USB Reader.
Think to do xD card method, but must wait USB reader from UK. About 12 days... long time.

I can solder xD to my old console, with working SPI. Reprogram it with curent NAND and solder it to my console.
I can bypass USB reader necessity, for now while waiting to arrive.

Do you think it can be initialized from nandrpo like internal NAND, when I solder it and cut and redirect NAND trace to xD?

[2] I still can`t understand why sudenly SPI port was "damaged". Continue to suspect corupted NAND.
For fast NAND Diagnose I can make a data and power connetors bridge between my xbox NAND and NAND from my old donor xbox instead fo swap NANDs. And try to reprogram it on a donor xbox.
Asuming the SPI is problem, i must have connection to NAND and locate my beloved FlashControler`s fate.  Roll Eyes

i have same problem exactly. so the conclusion is the spi problem not the nand itself?
and it can fix with cygnos right?
