I also have this issue. Received MT1339E with GND and VCC shorted.
Manage to find one without shorts, but is not function normally, the dvd motor spins continuously.

Btw, mine were refurbished, but before, same refurbished chips worked fine....Sad

Seems they are pushing us  to buy new MT1335WE...:|..or just damage them with to mutch hot air...Sad

hi,
ive done ten replacements of original MT1335WE chips to MT1339E before (fist delivery of china-chips)
everything has been fine...

...till today -  the second delivery of 20 pieces arrived.
all but one chip has low resistance between Vcc (3.3V) and Vss (GND)!!! Huh
the damn chineseman fu**ed me!

does somebody have had such a delivery too? - maybe a hole production line does produce this useless bullsh**.

damn.

You can use MX25L2005MC or  the winbond w25x20 spi, just a question of choice. Wink

Last time I replaced one MT1335WE with the MT1339E I noticed, I had no MXIC or Winbond SPI chip anymore.

I found an EON EN25B20 SPI chip on an SH-D163 (B revision) drive board. I flashed it using that board to the neccessary firmware with DOSflash32 and after that soldered it to the slim liteon drive board. It works like every other *25*20 SPI chip but I did not try to flash it soldered to the slim board afterwards. Could be that JungleFlasher does not accept that SPI.

I think is not possible to flash an EON EN25B20 SPI chip on Jungle Flasher because they are not the same manufacturer ID / device ID as originally used on xbox360 drives. I flash these SPI devices using SPIPGMW (thanks to Martin Rehak) hooked up on my LPT port.

0x1C  0x31  0x04  0xD8  0xC7  "EON(EN25B20 Bottom Boot)"
0x1C  0x41  0x04  0xD8  0xC7  "EON(EN25B20 Top Boot)"

DosFlash seems to support that SPI

Hi CoDeFl@sher,
can you help me find out the following problem? I bought one kit MT1339E and SPI, and when I connected the motherboard to X360USB PRO, the JF can't detect my drive.  Can you tell me if the wires are soldered correctly?

Hi mikeh2012! So assuming you had soldered the SPI exactly as shown on this link:http://www.xboxhacker.org/index.php?topic=16866.20,and also having in mind the fact that your SPI is sold EMPTY,JungleFlasher has nothing to show until you write some firmware to this SPI. Now in order to write your firmware on this driveboard, just follow the steps on page 211 up to 215 of JFTUT 1.4.4.PDF under  JF documentation folder.Good Luck. Smiley

Hello guys,

I have a question. Is this IC swap method safe? I mean, is there any chance of MS start checking the IC model or something, like querying for the IC model expecting it to be MT1335 and when receiving MT1339 refusing it?

I'm running a Dual Boot and I'm really tended on doing this dual firmware mod too but I'm somehow apprehensive...

Thanks!

Hi marcus.miranda,I don't want to underrate M$ ability to check the hardware ,but in the actual scenario is a bit too late to do it now.

Thx for the quick reply, mate!

First, lol!
Ok, now that I stopped laughing, well, coming from M$, it's never too late for nothing. What about if they decide implementing a new check on the level I mentioned and do a new mass ban based on the results. I'm just saying it may happen, right!?

Thx again!

1-Yeah, just IF they decide implementing a new check as you suggested.but I think that the aim of M$ now is RGH .
2-Nothing is riskless.

Got it...
You said you think M$ is aiming for RGH, and judging for the 15574 sys upd that blocked new RGH, I think you're right... The 1 million question is: will it be possible to detect RGH hardware? I mea, ppl who are running dual boot solutions that "disable" itself and the RGH chip when using the "original" part or their dual boot without DVD firmware mod are really safe? Sometimes I I believe I think too much on these stuff Tongue
I'm just "brainstorming", you know?!

Thanks!

I want to keep this thread focused on dvd-rom related information/discussion,but if you like, feel free to start a new thread on "Xbox 360 General Discussion" board. This way we can discuss about RGH related themes, and expose our point of view. Smiley
