After trying several resistors on my mt1335we1016 (WinBond SPI) without success i've figured out that mt1335we was burned. Once having the backup of the drive (made before the tragedy),I decided to try a diferent MediaTek dvd controller with external SPI that i found in a usb dvd-rom. after few hours of hard work could bring the drive "back to life", and running fine .I hope this info will be useful to others with same problem. Wow, well done, that might lead to some new ways to work with the winbond pcbs. Question, on what drive did you find the replacement ic??

Alanyoung you must have a spi( macronix or winbond) connected to MT1339E ,then in JF you click "Intro/Device ID" button, power off drive/probe MPX01 with PMT/power drive back on and see if you flash properties are good, then you are ready to write firmware on it.

If I use the original mt1335we, coupled with external spi flash MX25L2005, so that you can write firmware?

MT1339 is pin-by-pin replacement (it can be found on some Liteon pc dvd drives). Well this is nothing new, its what some known team uses on their replacement pcbs and the pro kit.
MT1339 read/write full supported on Gecko 1.14 and above on Lizard.
