Opened up this xbox and found some wiring going from the fan power plug to the dvd power cord. They are spliced together.  Is this a possible fan mod? I've not turned on the xbox to check it out, but I don't remember the xbox fans running at 12v

yes its a simple way to get a 12v source to power the fans at 100% speed

prev owner may have wanted a 12v mod, or else blew the mofsets regulating the fan power header
