from Team X Forum http://www.team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66086 "PRE ORDER NOW !
http://www.xconsoles.com/liteon-dg-1...ement-pcb.html
and
http://www.ck3.co.uk/liteon-dg-16d4s...ement_pcb.html
and at all other official Xecuter retailers
It cost a lot to research and manufacture this - it also cost a lot to source the parts.
We know its expensive and its not for everyone - but its a solution and you can choose to use it or not."
"Do you have a faulty Liteon DG-16D4S DVD in your Xbox 360 ? Are you swapping your drive to another console and are unable to program your firmware due to write protection being enabled ? Team Xecuter have done it again with this custom made replacement PCB. Fits all DG-16D4S drive versions and allows you to reprogram your firmware to the board and then to set it to write protect to secure against any accidental firmware corruption / erasing.
Fits all Liteon DG-16D4S Drives Fully compatible with 9504, 0225 and 0401 fw revisions Write Protect enable / disable feature Simply swap out the old board with your new board and you are good to go ! Easily programmable using the X360USB PRO or compatible SATA.
Note: All replacement boards are shipped blank. You must program your consoles correct firmware version and drive key. "having not seen the PCB of a slim drive, it seems to me like they are just selling the PCB's from 9504 drives. surely they havent cloned theentire PCB? i know TX has the ability to do so but surely thats a bit much!! hopefully the pro kit doesnt cost as much!

MS has two options: Sue... Change the DVD drive to another source/manufacturer... We wait and see what will happen...

MS has two options:
You forgot one: Ignore it as a nuisance and continue to be proactive in the firmware/challenge updates.

ive read c4e has stated its a custom PCB from Team X,
AFAIK you can copy a pcb and change the layout on more than a certain percentage and its legit, so makes sense.
i dont see m$ or liteon suing over this as it would prob be dead end.
prob see clones etc after a few months be able to get them cheap enough after time.

When I posted my reply I had the *MT1335 chip that they will be selling as well* in mind. So I still think they will try to change the DVD drive vendor eventually.
This is actually something very bad for Mediatek and Lite-ON/Phillips business.

C4eva respect and others, however, like an opinion from Geremia over whether it is possible to actually own writing in 0225

Sorry no Geremia,no Maximus,no Jesus able to write this Well MS can, so there must a custom SPI that enables vendor mode.

We don't even know if MS can. They didn't during this update. Only Slim drive that got flashed was the 9504 so it might NOT even be possible for MS to write to the 0225 or 0401.

All of the previous drives were writeable in some way, the 0225 and 0401 ones aren't. The writeable Mediatek chip and the custom-pcb is just a bad and cheap workaround. Soon Chinese manufactures will start making them cheap. Team X can just make a fast buck while it lasts. In my opinion they should have just let MS have this one. Just find a way to write to the existing chip, if its impossible then just give up and let people buy older consoles or replacement drives.

I understand. You found paradise in America, you had a good trade, you made a good living. The police protected you and there were courts of law. And you didn't need a friend like me. But, uh, now you come to me, and you say: "Don Corleone, give me justice." But you don't ask with respect. You don't offer friendship. You don't even think to call me Godfather. Instead, you come into my house on the day my daughter is to be married, and you ask me to do murder for money.

This workaround solution is a bit ridiculous but at least it is one way short of swapping for 9504 drive, and I wouldn't expect to see more from TX either. If one were to obtain mt1335we IC's not from TX as they cost a fraction of the price, would it also work? or is their some sort of special instruction set of programming that needs to be replicated as well, and they're doing that to their mt1335's ? Guess we might just have to wait for the chinese manf. to roll out the clones before we see a reasonable price. $20 with the work involved is quite high, $75 for a pcb ? drives were $30-$35 (well likely not anywhere anymore).
