seems the new spring update will includethe beta drive updates

no more backups on live!!

Quote
Even before that new app smell has worn off from Hulu Plus, Microsoft will launch its annual spring update for the Xbox 360 Dashboard. Images sent to Joystiq by a Microsoft tech support employee reveal that the next Dashboard update will begin rolling out on May 19.

According to the documents, the update will be distributed in six separate waves between May 19 and May 30 "to ensure a high quality deployment." Additionally, while not technically part of the automatic update, Avatar Kinect is listed for a May 27 arrival as a separate download.

Aside from offering support for the new Microsoft disc format -- which will "be used in future game titles releasing later in 2011" -- the spring system update will enable PayPal support on the console, extending the payment option "to new international markets." PayPal will be "the only user facing feature" of the update.

Did c4eva say anything about if lt2.0 will load older games that are getting 2.5 verifications on this update or will we have to wait for patches and reburn all the crap?

nothing said yet but i'd hazard a guess that they will introduce AP2.5 for all games, and the current set of AP2.5 responses will also be changed for all games that currently have it.

Yep, new challenges for the 6 currently activated titles.

Interesting how C4E's new 0800 will supposedly extract ap2.5 sectors... ? I was under the impression that at present they decrypt the challenges from the nand of an exploitable box.

Reburning every time a new set of challenges are issued is too much of a PITA, MS have employed a good inconvinience tactic I think.

Are Xenon prices about to hit the roof? I suppose the other possibility is changing the OSIG on an exploitable box and then returning to stock for XBL use. But I guess this is probably beyond the realm of your average pirate. Arrrrrrrgghhhh!  Smiley

Like you say gaz, it's going to be interesting few weeks..

They'll update 6 drives.
But what about older drives like the ms25/28 or the hitachi v59 and older?
Will they support the new disc format too?

I understand. You found paradise in America, you had a good trade, you made a good living.
The police protected you and there were courts of law.
And you didn't need a friend like me.
But, uh, now you come to me, and you say: "Don Corleone, give me justice."
But you don't ask with respect.
You don't offer friendship.
You don't even think to call me Godfather.
Instead, you come into my house on the day my daughter is to be married, and you ask me to do murder for money.

They'd have to support it. I cant see M$ telling a good amount of its customer to go Eff themselves, a small amount maybe, but not that many.

Um the New firmware does nothing for the XDG3.

Tested it with STOCK BenQ, with 12625 J.T.A.G.

Edit: Also SPG is patched, as well.

The company who made the game should have replaced it for it.
The disk was flawed at the point of manufacture.

Also, how the f*** do you backup a disk with 'breaking it open'??

They're open but not played. They only spin for a moment to be backed up.

i think its a very clever move by m$

live fee's and live sales arent affected coz no1 banned (hopefully)

they know they cant stop piracy, just make life so difficult for piracy that it becomes too much hassle.

pity sony couldnt learn from m$, perhaps their precious PSN would not have been attacked with such gusto.

wonder if C4eva/Team Jungle have thier mitts on the new fw yet?

Since this is probably going to get fixed with the drive FW update I'll spill the beans ...
It's not all Xenons that "work" for that.  Currently we have three situations on Xenons:

100% Original Xenons   (1888, 1901, 1902)
Xenons that have been repaired by MS but have drives that are currently without AP25 capability.  (CB1920/CB1921)
Xenons that have been repaired by MS and have a BENQ or Lite-On drive installed. (100% AP25 capable, Hashed KV and OSIG)

Original Xenons have no KV hashes so you can mess all you want. Not that it's necessary anyway.
Xenons that were serviced after the KK exploit released have been updated with hashed KV and changing anything in the KV would give you XMAS lights.

So basically at this moment you can do anything you want with the KV on a Xenon with CB1940, but not on the others. They will XMAS lights.  Getting away with that on LIVE is another story and good luck with that. (I don't recommend putting modified consoles on LIVE as results are often annoyance for other players, for MS and for yourself.)

Knowing the CPUKEY is obvious and comes without saying. Tongue
Basically this means that MS stuff is very secure even when you have f***ed the security up and know the CPU key. Even then you can't do much with it.

Kudos to MS.

anyone got the new update and tried to dump the drive afterwards to obtain the new OFW on a liteon drive?

does the PMT probe method still work, and does it give you a full dump or just a dummy.bin with serial/key info copied in?

searched the net but couldnt find an answer to that question about the PMT probe, full dump or dummy.bin? i think its dummy.bin but not sure.

if not, then that would mean having to do an MRA dump of the drive to get OFW, (not hard to do but time consuming)

is the new OFW hashed in any way, that would stop you from obtaining a copy of the OFW and inserting your key into it, saving the need to do an MRA dump?

i will be experimenting with my own drive when i get the update, but it would be nice to know before i start.

l_oliveira - Thanks for clarification, I guess I failed there. I was under the impression that you could modify the KV in a newer exploitable console (Falcon/Jasper) Assume its signed with Microsofts Private RSA Key. Now I think back that does make sense, this was done to stop people "unbanning" consoles by giving them a new KV

Like you say no point messing with the one console/type which is unaffected anyway... I have an original Xenon from launch with RROD, I wonder if its worth getting this fixed professionally.
