Hey guys

I have not found my answer at Xbox-scene but hope the pros over here can help me. I´m not a total noob, but i have done about 20-30 jtags and countless amounts of fw flashes, wii and classic xbox but i´m completely stuck now.

I have my friends Jasper 16mb that has bad blocks @11 & 2be.

With some hassle i could get XBR going a year ago, but when i tried to update to freeboot i did not remap anything and used flash360. The box would not turn on and i wanted to put the old XBR back for now. I had a backup of a remapped XBR and after shorting the nand i could flash it.

Then i tried to make a compatible freeboot image but it would never work. I always had to reflash xbr and try again. I must have done that 4-5 times until i gave up for the day.

The next day i accidentally flashed a fresh XBR image that had not been remapped and it errors out after 30-60 secs. The worst thing is that nandpro cant find the nand anymore!

Basically i´m stuck since i cant Read/write/erase or boot Xell Sad

When i turn it on it just errors after about a minute (RROD or 2 red lights)

Does anyone know what i could try but i have:
-Tried shorting the nand
-Plugging it in when i issue the -e16 command
-soldered the lpt under the motherboard
-tried about 20-30 tries of pressing eject and hoping for a miracle Tongue
-tested the lpt on my own xenon box and it works on that.

I hope you have some advice for me since it´s been driving me crazy for 2 weeks. I have a spare nand, but i dont have the equipment nor the skills to replace it. Worst case scenario i would need professional help but i´m located in Iceland so that makes things a bit more complicated.

Looking forward to what you guys think
Thanks in advance Smiley

Thanks for replying.

I´m using LPT and have triple checked everything about the connections.. even soldered them under the motherboard. Also i´m using really short cables. I have the the orig.bin, kv.bin and a xbr.bin that has been remapped to work with this box.

Is it possible that the nand is fried?

Would the xbox even try to boot if that was the case

Is it possible your LPT is fried?

It could be a number of things - do you have the ability to read and write the nand directly (without the use of SPI) ?

I can use the lpt cable to read from my old Xenon, but i have no way of knowing if i can read or write to the nand directly since i cant access Xell Sad

Try this instead of shorting the nand.

get nandpro ready with for example... nandpro lpt: -e16

Plug in power cord into the back of the xbox and send that command within 1 second.

Might take a few attempts but it worked a treat for me... i had exactly this problem.

Good luck.

Edit: Maybe i should learn to read.

Only thing i could think of is that an SPI has been blown on the motherboard. I'm guessing a Cygnos *COULD* fix this.

I had a Falcon that I damaged the SPI port by shorting out the nand. The only solution was a Cygnos or SD card mod.

What do you think would be cheaper / eas.... not as difficult Tongue

If i get the cygnos i would have to be v1 right? And would i need to get a infectus also to program it ?

I have not played with the bios since it has worked so many times.. this jasper included. I made a cable exactly like this one:
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=691873
But i added the diode.

Thanks again so much for helping me with this. But before i start ordering cygnois/xd card is there a definitive way of knowing if the spi is fried?

the fact that you have tried a xenon with the same setup shows that the setup is ok, the fault is with the xbox.

keep trying the short trick can take quite a few goes to get it working.

the only definitive way of knowing if the spi is blown would be to have the console update itself, and it would error out because the SPI is blown.

that is no help to you in this instance until you can get it running.

k0mpresd has sent me a pm willing to fix it for me.

I have to admit sending it to someone i don´t know worries me a bit, but maybe that is my best bet?

The xd card mod seems to be challenging but doable. I have looked into cygnos360 but the v2 uses the on board nand. That made me think if it uses the same way of reading and writing to the nand and getting a v2 cygnois would not help me at all.

Am i mistaken?

Also if i would find a cygnos360 how do i write to that, infectus?

The Cygnos360 comes with a USB interface so you don't need anything else.  However I am uncertain if it uses the SPI interface or writes to the nand directly like the Infectus.

The cygnos does not require the SPI interface and can read and write the nand directly.

Can anyone confirm that cygnos360 v2 does not use spi?

Found it cheap here:
http://foundmy.com/oscom/product_info.php?cPath=38_39&products_id=362

I also guess my best bet would be to get the dual nand version (instead of rev F) since my onboard nand might be fried.. and it also has a bad block @11 which is always a pain in the ass.

Thanks again for all your help

It directly accesses the nand without going through SPI.
