Hardware revision list (WIP):

Barcode ID   FCC ID   Idle current   Playtime
X801769-020C3K-WKS36845mA44h (1.85 days) with 2000mAh
X801769-024C3K-WC0123mA87h (3.6 days) with 2000mAh
X817145-006C3K-140323mA87h (3.6 days) with 2000mAh

Notes:
  • Gameplay, pressing buttons and such doesn't notably change idle current (+3mA).
  • Gamepad powerup sync pulls around 145mA for 1-2 secs.
  • Rumble takes around 180mA.
  • Headset doubles idle power from 23mA to 46mA.
  • Idle current measured with DMM (digital multimeter). Graph pollrate is 5Hz (200ms). Don't take these measurements too serious.

Graphs:
1st graph shows a 23mA gamepad on NFS:HP with rumble. The 'Sync' peak actually is the gamepad power-up state (not learning mode). Using sticks and triggers just raises current around 2-3mA whereas rumble goes around 130-180mA (peak 230mA). At the 0mA areas the pad powered off.

2nd graph shows the increased headset power. It raises from 23mA to 46mA. The peaks are probably generated by bluetooth communication (headset login).

Where do you get "2x 2000mAh = 4000mAh" from? The batteries are wired in series, so voltage doubles, mAh remains the same.

Are you assuming that the controller uses double the amount of current while being used for playing a game than it does when idle? Perhaps if you measure the current while the headset and microphone is connected you will get a better judgement of what the average current draw is when the transmitter is busy?

@Arakon: Indeed... fixed.

@xboxbreaker: Not sure if i have a headset here. Then i will test it. At least bluetooth syncing/login pulls around 145mA for 1-2 secs.

Gameplay, pressing buttons and such doesn't notably change idle current.

When connecting the headset the current raises from 23mA to 46mA. It pulls the same power like the old pad then. Maybe the old pad always is in that mode and doesn't change current when headset is connected. I will check that later.

I've put up some graphs and the black pad.

The transmitter is always transmitting the position of the analogue sticks/triggers and button press information, even when they aren't being used. A data stream of a certain sample rate. When the headset is in it looks like it is driving a second wireless channel, or it is a quiescent current for the speaker, not sure about that though.
