Hitachi Key at line 4F00 coming up as 7474 repeating

Hi, I have looked around and can't find if this is covered somewhere....forgive me if it is.

I have a hitachi GDR-3120L with F/W rev 0042.

The line where the key is supposed to be at 4F00 is coming up as repeating 74s.

I've pulled keys off of other drives before without an issue.  Jungle Flasher and toolbox both pull the same thing, and I have gone into the hex and looked myself.

Is the key missing? This is a stock drive and I havn't tried to write to it.
My goal is to replace it with a spare Ben-q drive I have.

does the drive still work in the console?

have you dumped the fw more than once?

have you tried flashing the fw to a dummy drive to see if the dump is valid?

tried dumping with another setup?

I have dumped the firmware onto another drive but games are read as dvds.  The drive works when I put it in the console but games are also read

as DVDs.  This is the problem it was having in the first place though....so it's hard to tell if it is truly functioning.  The firmware dumps the exact same each

time. I've looked into the hex, they are identical.

if your games only boot as dvd's then your key has been lost.
