I'm no tech expert. Would it be possible to somehow tap into the dvd rom with external hardware to record the challenge responses? Then make that to a PPF? I know they released ap2.5 patches for scene release but I don't want to use them and am not software/hardware smart enough to figure it out my self I don't mind using my original but scares me.

There are two things about AP2.5 that I thought was supposed to make this kind of thing futile:
1. Geometries on the disc that are impossible to burn using DL burnable media (not just in a small region, but throughout the disc) 2. Challenge/Response that can be updated online, meaning that the drive wont just be challenged for the same old responses all the time, they can be changed in an update, or downloaded from live when connecting. I can't think of a reasonable way for a hacked firmware to deal with that.
I don't know what has happened, but I think it is Microsoft that has not taken action. Some speculation: The discs must be expensive/slow to manufacture in comparison to normal discs and they have been avoiding printing ap2.5 to meet christmas stock levels. Or perhaps it is just the shear scale of the task, with the amount of tampered drives out there. Although I think the auto-ban flagging is an attempt to deal with that.
Just seems like AP2.5 has turned out to be a damp squib. I don't get it. I keep waiting for the "update" of challenges that makes LT+ scream out ban me!! Maybe they will do this when there are more ap2.5 games in circulation.

no c4eva and crew won't release the technique to dump AP2.5 responses, as they've said.

From http://team-xecuter.com/ap25-patches-non-english-titles/We are not able to reveal the current method to grab the data due in part to its complexity and also because it would reveal a protected security hole that has to be kept secret to safeguard the ability to hack future drives.

you wont need to be able to dump ot yourself, rip the game using current 0800 to get ssv2 dump, then run it through abgx to patch the ap2.5 data in.

Am I the only one who thinks that grabbing the "current" set of ap25 responses, and burning em to a disk so they can be played back later is retarded? What happens when they update the challenge database in flash? What happens when they send an unknown ap25 challenge thru live? To LOL it up, and say ap25 is beat, is in fact retarded. You willl all be burning a bunch of new disks every time there is a dash update, maybe sooner if they send dynamic challenges through live. You slim guys aren't even gonna be running backups of ANY kind before long. Remember you heard it here first

Remember you heard it here first The best part of what Tiros just said is that MS can challenge any disc as long it has AP25 marks on it's surface, regardless of it being a new/recent game or not. This AP25 stuff is awesome for keeping people honest... Edit: fix an unnoticed typo

I thought it was retarded as well, but I didn't put it so bluntly :-). I was beginning to think I had missed something though, as these features of AP2.5 either are being ignored or misunderstood by 99% of people discussing it. If MS update the challenges, I might take some time to browse some "other" forums and laugh at the abundance of "Fail".

A few days ago Team Xecuter posted in his Forum that no further Releases of non English AP25 Patches are planned.
This Post has been deleted.
I think Microsoft has won this time.

If so that might be a fail on their part coz let's face it, C4E has no real reason to create "live-safe" hacked firmware other than to market the hardware from TX. The whole "free firmware" is just an aspect of him being a "godly" hacker but seriously who'd spent so much time/effort in stuff when there's no money to earn?
Fact remains if there's no "live-safe" firmware about 90% of people will not be flashing their drives anymore. Coz you know they can't pirate their games on Xbox Live. And if people stop flashing their drives who still needs their latest hardware to do it.

I totally agree with you. But Team Xecuter have to Buy all the AP 2.5 protected Games from all Regions over the World to read out the AP 2.5 Sectors.
Only a few at the moment. But i Think there will come more.
I personally own 4 of the affected Games. But none of them are in the AGBX Database yet.
Time to move to America.

If I was MS I would just release new challenges over Live on a regular basis to basically make the whole thing impractical.
[Edit: Just read the thread properly - basically I agree with Tiros]

yup new challenges once a week and hacked 360 firmware will be gone.
doesn't matter if LT+ prevents the flag on the console, burning a new disc once a week ain't gonna cut it.
Didn't TX said they had put up a fund to obtain all AP2.5 challenges from non-english titles? lol

I think this is pretty much on the button tbh, It is in Xecuters best interest to keep the "drive hacking" scene alive since i suspect the majority of his business is from people purchasing drive related hw. I've often wanted to say that on the official forums but felt the abuse probably wasnt worth it lol. Still will be interested to see how c4e gets on with the slim fw. The reason dynamic checks havnt been implemented yet is possibly because they are still trialing/testing ap2.5 atm, not sure really just speculating.
