Hey, so I successfully flashed my 360 back in Oct 2008 and was basking in the glory of my genius. However my PCs hard drive died 18 months ago and I lost everything, I lost the original.bin file which if my memory serves me right is the dvd key, correct?

Don't I need the original key to update the firmware to play new backed-up games?

Am I screwed or is there a way of fixing this?

Info on my drive and what I did:

Hitachi 0079fl GDR 3120
Booted up slax > put in mode B
burned and used 79 Unlock CD
360 Firmware Toolbox
 - where I saved the original.bin
Differential Flash

It worked from there, after that I didn't update the firmware again and left it as it was - but now I'm looking to get back into hacking the 360.

Any help mucho appreciated.  Smiley

Im not sure here on what to say but if ya got drive flashed with no problem then why dont you just flash again by dumping Firmware first as usual then you have key again. You dont need original firmware although sometimes helps where Lite-on drives are concerned. Either use another pc with JF or wait til ya get a new one.

Oh, great news. I thought the original was needed for updating to the lastest firmware, but looks like you don't.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll start reading about JungleFlasher

I'm just reading through the JungleFlasher tutorial and in the Hitachi section it says:

"JungleFlasher will only flash iXtreme to a stock drive and so a restore facility is provided, which allows for a full restore to stock f/w of previously modded drives."

Has the tutorial not been updated and JungleFlasher now allows you to update ixtreme without the stock firmware?
