hi all,

i'm having trouble updating my hacked 9199 dash to the latest version (12611) after using various methods (jtag tool, fbbuild etc) seems that only way to get it to work is to use an original nand and go from there, since i dont have my original nand thou.

is there any guides / methods avaliable that work - for creating a clean nand from my hacked 9199 dash?

thanks for any help you can give.

------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE - for peps who can't be bother read whole post for solution
------------------------------------------------------------------

tried upgrading freeboot 9199 to freeboot 12611 with different tools (jtag tool, fbbuild, bestpig toolbox, easy freeboot etc)
tried creating original nand using (donor clean nand from jtag tool forums & using jtag tool & injecting my kv, smc & config, cpu key etc)

some builds caused e79 - this was fixed by updating my smc to the correct jtag points.
Always ended up with only xell booting, try boot to dash and nothing happens apart from a green power l.e.d. is always on.

After a month of trying many different things - it was causing by previous owners bad jtag hack, the wrong cpukey & key vault used in on my freeboot 9199 image.

Nothing you can do to fix it apart from getting a matching kv & cpukey (unless you can get hold of your original stock dump). Then you can make a working image.

I'm sorry but that's a recipe for 3RLOD.  Roll Eyes

To build a proper image you need the decrypted 9199 files from you know where, ibuild.exe, know your CPU key and you NEED to have the original security files for your console because ibuild uses it to rebuild the fuses and proper LDV.

Sorry, but for making an "clean" non rebooter dump the requirements are a little higher than that of a JTAG. Also you're very likely to be caught with inconsistencies if the console has been on live already.

if you build a freeboot image with the 9199, extract the KV, SMC, and SMC_Config from that image. get the dash files for the 12611k or what number it is, make image. is that so hard now.

If i understand you and the latest Freeboot readme correctly:
Your old freeboot 9199 you are using now is probably the easyest way to get the files you need, it has most/all things you need.

As DDXCB stated KV, SMC, and SMC_Config and the new dash files are enough to build the newest Freeboot, you should be able to get those from the image you are trying to update(the 9199 you dumped a couple of times and checked), no reason at all to build an original or 9199 image.

You can use 360 flash tool 0.97 to extract all the needed files from your existing 9199 image, but dont forget to mark "Extract Ibuild compatible files" under settings - options and insert your CPU key under settings - keys before you do that.

The new dash files are floating around somwhere, probably somewhere near where you found the new Freeboot version.

Fbbuild will substitute most needed files for you so that will not be a problem.

After that just follow the Freeboot readme and ask if you run into trouble.

ibuild c original -c xenon -d data\ -b 1BLKEY -p CPUKEY .\bin\image.bin .\bin\fuses.bin   (have an original SMC for your mobo there as well)

Will cause ibuild to make an clean, original flash for a xenon motherboard. CB1940, kernel 9199, no rebooter, no hacks. Will boot, will work.

There's a few problems with this:

There will be inconsistencies with the security files. Meaning that XBL servers will have cached values for security files that will no longer match the ones on the console flash.
Pairing data will be changed.

Basically the console will be screaming "I'm tampered" on XBOX live.

There's no problem if you intend on using it offline only or if it's banned already.

Are you trying to undo a JTAG ?  Maybe it's cheaper (work wise) leave it alone and sell to someone else then buy a new console for playing on XBL ?

It can do this if your using a non-hacked SMC.bin, extract the one from xell or another working hacked image. Are you sure you got SMC.bin from your working 9199 image? If you are using a different JTAG wiring you will need to make sure you are using the SMC that is configured for that wiring.

l_oliveira I'm sure he is trying to update to the new JTAG dash;

i'm having trouble updating my hacked 9199 dash to the latest version after using various methods seems that only way to get it to work is to use an original nand and go from there

Questions:
1. Lets get this sorted: If i understand the start topic correctly you want to update to the latest hacked freeboot dash, correct?(Maby you could change the topic name)
2. Do you have bad blocks in the nand?, where?
3. How are you flashing?, e.g. Nandpro LPT/USB, Xellous, Linux
4. If you flash back the 9199 version does the xbox work correctly?
5. How did you extract the files from the 9199 bin?, if 360 toolbox, did you change the settings and use the files from the ibuild directorys?
6. What kind of xbox are we talking about? e.g. Xenon
7. Did you remove the power after flashing?
8. If you flash again try to wait until you get an error, give it a minute or 4.
Answers:
The only parts of your original nand are located inside the Freeboot 9199 image, you can see those files as settings files and certificates, it isn't possible to recreate missing files but they can be replaced with working files for Freeboot.

Extracting files from the 9199 image, building a non hacked image with those and then extracting the files from that file will probably give you exactly the same files.

Xboxbreaker: With a non hacked SMC it should give you an error, looks more like a bad block or a bad keyvault(wrong extraction?)

It didn't give me an error, just steady green light, no xell or freeboot. I waited for an error as well, but didnt get one. I had flashed original SMC by accident. Once I had flashed the SMC from my freeboot 9199 image it worked fine. That was on an Xenon.

Point to note though, that I flashed using Xell, so when it finished and I turned xbox off and on it booted fine into new dash, it was only once disconnecting the power and the SMC was refreshed (removing the hack) that I got the steady green light and no video.

as for your previous post, this jtag console i use off live, test games out see if there worth buyin for my slim and take a beatin on xbl lol

2nd not tryin to undo a jtag, updating from hacked 9199 to 12611 keeps failing so i'm been told try go original -> 12611. since no original dump i need make a clean dump using donor files and files outta my hacked 9199.

im using the smc from my hacked 9199, that has the correct wiring config and once booted works fine, dash works.

Questions:

1. (Maby you could change the topic name) - done
2. Do you have bad blocks in the nand?, where? - did a few dumps and compared all, no bad blocks in any and they all match each other
3. How are you flashing?, e.g. Nandpro LPT/USB, Xellous, Linux - using nandpro 2.0e
4. If you flash back the 9199 version does the xbox work correctly? - yes loads my hacked 9199 dash fine (which drives me nuts)
5. How did you extract the files from the 9199 bin?, if 360 toolbox, did you change the settings and use the files from the ibuild directorys? 1.)360 flash tool v.0.97 (i've imported my cd key and selected the ibuild compatability option for extracts) 2.) on ibuild i added correct 1bl and cpu key and added 3 data files smc, etc
6. What kind of xbox are we talking about? e.g. Xenon - falcon
7. Did you remove the power after flashing?removed nand-x programmer, unplugged power brick 30-60secs and then powered up
8. If you flash again try to wait until you get an error, give it a minute or 4.waiting around 1min nothing ever happened

Why would you try to change the dvd key?, thats probably the problem as you cannot change anything in the newer keyvaults!!!

aren't there like a hundred topics on how to create a newer freeboot from an older freeboot image (without having your original nand)? do you really need a 101th?

that's all what this thread is about.

if you're incapable, have someone else do it.. it's really not that hard..unless all you've used to create freeboot is freeboot toolbox or some other noob program

Mate, forget about donor clean Nands, and stock Nands. Just forget about them. You have a working 9199 image, that is all that you need to build the new one.
The problem is something you are doing while building your new image, not the image that you are extracting the files from.

it's not mentioned near the start of the topic i don't think, i've been following guides for making the images using jtag tool, ibuild etc and they haven't worked for me and hasn't for other people as well, coolshrimps suggested using a clean non hacked nand instead of upgrading from 9199 hacked nand,
and so i'm here with this topic
