Would be very hard, as it was not just some "flash code" in an nand.

The original launch PS3 had, a full ps2 slim inside it attached to the corner of the motherboard,
it contained the EE+GS chip, plus even it's own original RAMBUS memory, all wired directly into
into basically an hi-tech video switcher!

The second batch of PS3's had patented CELL emulator installed on second NAND that ONLY
EMULATED the "EE" (Emotion Engine) half of the PS2, so it included on the board still the GS
(Graphics side) on the PS3 motherboard, but the emulator allowed use of the normal PS3 ram.

Good luck in wiring up a GS chip to your PS3 along with a hi-tech video switcher!

So Garyopa, I have two launch units, a 20gb jap and a 60gb Pal one. Do you think we could eventually use Ps1 and Ps2 backups thanks to the current exploit via further Backup managers? or at least being able to play them without region lock?

Regards.

PD: A lot of people out there still have BC consoles  Wink
