what's goin' on. i was on ebay trying to buy a microsoft points card and most of the sellers are offering silver acct's with points preloaded on them. the sellers are providing an email, gamertag, and password. i'm assuming a lot of people here have heard of these type of acct's being sold on ebay.
i just wanted to know if these deals are any good and if my console or regular xbox live acct will get banned if i buy this?

its obvious the points are carded just so you're aware. there is always the chance m$ could ban any consoles the tag is attached to.
afaik, the tag itself needs to remain on the console itself. whether or not this is true im unsure as the stuff you download should technically be signed for use on the original console it was purchased on regardless of the gamertag.
also, i've been told avatar DLC does not work on any other avatars but the one that is silver (but this might just be a limitation of avatar marketplace stuff itself)
either way, it's all up to you whether you want to get into that mess. the fact that you can get 10 000 points for only $15 should be a good indication of how the points are obtained.

thanks for the input. i figured that the points were a scam but i also saw people with kinda high ebay ratings leave good comments so i had mixed feelings. as far as the ownership of the dlc goes, i would have personally done a license transfer (i get the email and password on the acct) but i honestly don't want to get banned.

well i know of a guy who bought one of those things and he's fine. don't think anyone has been banned or anything im just saying you could easily get it traced back to your console/gamertag thats all. whether or not m$ actually does anything since they couldn't technically prove you as the owner of the 360 did it....
who knows.

Buy your ms points with a prepaid card (mastercard, visa, not prepaid ms points) as it's cheaper, and no risk to get banned like that |

MS can revoke points as far as I know.. so if you buy an account with 20k points, you may end up with 0 points if someone reported fraud for the card used.

in the early days you could use CC generators to aquire MS points, but I believe they added another security measure to it

They do ban consoles and accounts for theft. (Credit card fraud is theft too) Keep that in mind.  |
