I am trying to install FreeBoot on a Zephyr.

Here is what i have done so far.
Dash Version is 7371 (I updated it to 7371 myself before doing anything. (it was at 7357 when i got it)
My CB is 4540

I installed XBR and it works fine. Booted Xell and got my CPU key no problem. Was able to use CPU key to get DVD key ok.
I tried to build freeboot using Freeboot Toolbox 0.0032 Maker V2.4 Rev3 but my CB is not in the list of support versions.
I tried it anyhow but i get a error "Your dump has not been properly extracted. The reason is unknown."
Also I tried to build Freeboot using my XBR image as source and i get Resource ZEPHYR_4558 not found.

So i decided to just follow the instructions that come with Freeboot to try and build my image from my original.

Quote
   1. Extract your original image
Extract your original 7371 [recommended] image with the following command:
       ibuild.exe x -d temp\ -p [cpu key] -b [1bl key] 7371.bin

   2. Extract "9199.zip" archive
Extract the contents of the "9199.zip" archive into the "data"
      directory.

   3. Copy these files from "temp" to "data" directory
      - crl.bin
      - crl.bin.meta
      - extended.bin
      - extended.bin.meta
      - kv.bin
      - odd.bin - missing
      - odd.bin.meta - missing
      - secdata.bin
      - secdata.bin.meta
      - smc_config.bin

Step 3 is where i am stuck.
My orig.bin does not contain the two files named odd.bin and odd.bin.meta . Do i need these files? I have no idea what they even do or why i don't have them.

Has anyone else run into this?
Thanks

Thats what i ended up doing and it worked fine.

I didn't feel like experimenting but i wonder if they are even needed. I mean if my original nand doesn't have it then what is it really used for?

Hi,

I think there are two reasons why one of these files are missing. In some older dashboard revisions there is no crl.bin or odd.bin, because this file was added by MS in later images. Another reason is a bad extract of the original image, because the begin of some of these files inside the NAND Image seems to vary between the several dumps. But this only a guess.

These ODD.BIN are related to the DVD hack detection system MS added to XBOX360 after dash45xx due to firmware hacks.

CRL is the console revocation list.  If you are not going to put it on XBL there's no reason to worry about using "donor files".
If you were going to put it on XBL you would be caught by using anhacked kernel/hypervisor anyway so why bother ?

Good to hear you got it working anyway. And stay away from XBL Tongue
