Im in dire need of help here.
A mate at work asked if i'd replace his DVD drive in his 360, something wrong with the lens, but i stupidly tried while half asleep and put the drive back in upside down and well you can prob guess the rest as the power cable went in the wrong way.
Anyway the PCB is now fried and i need to get him a new one, which is all well and good but i can't get the Key off the old drive as its fried.
Suggestions, help Huh?
Or am i just going to have to buy him a new xbox?

No, you haven't buy programmer. The only way is repair power lines and regulators, and drive will be dumpable. We have repaired tons of fried dvd's in this way.

Is that easy enough to do for someone that only took GCSE Electronics about 15 years ago ?

Looks like its burnt out R204 and R207, theres no other visable sign of burning on the board, power lines look fine, i turned the machine off maybe 5 seconds after power was introduced.
