Hi friends this is my first post and also i am trying to flash my first Liteon 93450c.I am using MRA cuts and home made probe.I checked my cuts and all solder points no is short and continuity is good where it is needed.I am using Win Xp Sp3, PCI to Sata card with Via 6421 chip-set on it. Motherboard is Intel 945GLAD ands my drive had MXIC flash. I installed the Port32 drivers and also i am using my console to power the drive.I don't have any PC freezing thing at all. So now the problem..
After trying 1-2 times i got into vendor mode and Jugle flasher showing good flash properties. So after that i mover the switch to position 3 aka connected the 3.3v wire to the 122 pad. Then i pressed read, and jf starts reading banks. After reading all the four banks and saving bin file it says PARSE FAILED. So i thought i should check the FW file but it was all FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF in it. I even reinstalled my windows and checked every thing my cuts, connections etc but no luck. I also tried Dosflash32 and Dosflash16 but same result, Data Sum 0000.
Guys i am really frustrated i am stuck here from last one week, please help...

Man that what i am doing from last one week....no continuity b/w solder and ground and also no shorts. I thought resister might be culprit here but as we need resister only till the vendor mode and after that we have to remove it before reading right. So i am already in vendor mode with good flash properties. I know it was a bad dump as i checked the bin file in hex editor and there are only FFFFF in it.

Try to eject the drive. Power the pad 122 with 3,3V and eject.

Actually Drive's PCB is not connected with the drive, i cut off red, yellow, white nd black wire but previously when they are connected i was able to eject the drive. Hey wanna ask one thing more, below is pic you posted for dump/repair 101, there is black jumper wire you said we should install always. I wanna ask in what situation we need to install it, before reading FW or before writing FW or only if pad 101 destroyed or it should be there always and should we remove it after successful dump/before packing it back in Xbox.

This is a repair picture... Black wire is 3,3V fix when you have cut pads 101/122.
3,3V is cut off when you are moddin so we need to fix it, that we can detect the drive...
So it is temporary fix to rest of the drive when we are modding.
You can leave it when you have the fw Or you can take it off.

What is your modding style?

I am using Boxxdr's cuts and a home made probe by joining three needles. And 18ohm 1/4w resister connected to ground and one end to pad 101 with needle. As i said i can get into vendor mode aka 0x72 status quite easily so this resistor is fine  but i am not able to get good dump. Once in vendor mode i remove the resister wire from pad 101 and then press read but every time same result, Parse failed after reading banks. Same result when i use Dos flash and L-o-erase. I am using my console's power for drive. Some one told me that i need either usb to serial connectivity kit to get a dump or ck3 kit but i cant get them here in India. But as far as my understanding we can dump lite-on 93450c with home made probe and cuts. BTW i also tried MRA's method but same result. Should i try this on some other PC with on board sata port or try changing sata cable. I think JF is not able to read FW properly of the drive even with status 0x72.
Also is there are chances that my drive become unusable or anything that was not repairable. Does getting good flash properties and 0x72 status means my drive is fine...?

thanks for the reply...one thing more, i think i need one jumper wire over pad 101 after cuts right or in my case i dont need it...? also should i need one wire from 3.3v to probe points u mentioned from PCB 3.3v point or i just need connections just as u said. Look at the pic, i am talking abt jumper wire shown in black and 3.3v red wire going to 3.3v point on PCB.

Only if your console is still exploitable (jtag).. meaning, bought over a year ago, never updated by a game or disk. Since you got a 93 Liteon, you also got no jtag-ability on this console, so yes, it's f***ed for good.

You can still run movies and arcade games, but no games.

forcing RROD and sending in for repair is illegal, and if you have had drive opened and tampered with they would just send you a polite f*** you letter with your untouched console and invoice for 2 way delivery

next time read up a bit before you jump in feet first.

I have a situation similar enough to OP's (except for the erasing) that I think it's ok to ask this here:

Bought a box off eBay with an E64 problem, LiteOn drive - did the trace 3 cut
"boxxdr mra method" with proper soldering, got into vendor mode (has Winbond)
dumped with JungleFlasher (switch in proper position, re-intro'd, many identical dumps)
and got the parse failed message -

I opened the dump in WinHex, and the beginning of the dump is fine, matches LiteOn
firmware bit for bit up to offset 2FFF (3000 to A9FF differ) but from offset AA00 on, it is all FF's -

I'm assuming chip was somehow erased, is bad, or previous owner flashed incorrectly,
but just wanted to ask if this (part good/part FF's) is a symptom of something else before
I attempt to flash drive to see if board itself is still usable - the box has 8xxx dash so this
is the last hope for finding key...
