Got a question for you hardware guys.
Is there any visual, or any other way to determine wether a board (Eg: Laptop Motherboard or DVD Player circuit board) is using Lead Free solder or Leaded solder ?

Cheers.

Look for the acronym ROHS printed on the pcb. That means lead-free solder is used.

AFAIK, leaded solder joints appear a bit more shinny than leaded solders.

leaded solder should not be used today. however, i found some repair shops are using leaded 60/40 solder balls to reflow XBox mobo when repairing "3-Red"ed consoles.
