Anyone have any experience with this?  After quite a few hours of endless searching with no real answers except "Send it to Sony" I am stumped.

Yes I have called Sony, they want $150 to swap the unit out.

I have formatted the HD, restored the firmware, upgraded the firmware, changed the HD.

It has never had the YLOD, or any other issue.

It still has its factory seal intact.  So I would only like to break it if im not going to send it in.

Thanks, and here is the screen I am talking about:

i read somewhere that this is caused by nand corruption. i think something like a badblock that the system cant remap or somewhat. i thought of swapping nands, but theres a new one it the 80gig version. so i have no spare nand and no device to dump it. if its a badblock then try dump the nand, write that to a good one, swap them and make a firmware update

Do you get those Replace your faulty Ps3 adverts over on ebay.com?

I had a 40GB YLOD and bad BD-Rom, one payment of £35, a courier came round on a prearranged day then handed me a Sony refurbished unit and took away the old one. No questions asked nor was the old one inspected.

Whoops, didnt read date  Embarrassed

I ended up getting it covered under warranty from Sony.
