Any updates, OP?

If you guys are interested, I just emailed the guy on this Hungarian forum that has one of these same Memory Units. He said he is willing to clone his card & upload the image to me. Only problem is he does not have a Transfer Kit or a JTAG 360. Is there any other way he can get the files off the MU ? (UPDATE) I found a place for him in Europe that sells a Transfer Cable for £9.99, so we'll see how it goes in a week or two.

Good news everyone! I managed to get the transfer kit to work, and cloned the card(it entered manufacturing mode again, with the cloned card!). Also some insights from a friend, which are purely speculations, and I will have to test it when I have a jtagged xbox: this card is used when they manufacture the 360's(hence the manufacturing stuff), probably to load the dashboard to them(they do not press any buttons, just plug the ethernet and the MU). Tomorrow will also try a wired pad and see if the menu is not autoentered, but in the video the screens are visible for less than a sec. I will erase a NAND and insert just the card (of course there will be no dashboard to be loaded). The contents of the card look pretty normal when opened through XPort 360. I don't know if any of this is true, still haven't decided whom I will share the bin file with.
so rupal what was all this about then...he stated he had the info...i think he just came here being some kind of hot $#!t bragger f***ing tosser...lol...

I am not affiliated with the OP in any way (The guy i emailed on this hungarian forum is a different person). I Just thought i might try to help out (If this MU Has any interesting potential) As i am sort of fluent in Hungarian. rupa.

Will post back ASAP, when\if he uploads me the image. First he needs to get the MU reader so he can copy it.

An MU reader is something super simple, really. I picked up an dead xenon motherboard, took the MU slot from it, split in 2 parts and from that I made 2 cables: USB plug |>--cable---------MU slot To convert 5v to 3.3v I used: 1n4148x2 5v from USB -----|>|---|>|-------- 3.3v for MU power The other 3 wires go straight.

From the sounds of it i don't think he even knows how to solder. He even asked me to email him step by step instructions of how to copy the MU. If he orders the adapter from the UK (£14 Incl Shipping) he will have it in a week or less. BTW he just emailed me a RS link to a video he took of the "MANUFACTURING MODE" launching off the MU. (it looks like it only loads it if the MU is plugged into the first (Top) port) link: http://rapidshare.com/files/392922124/20100529002.rar.html

To read the MU on the PC he could download Datel's XPORT360 software, which includes an usable driver for the MU.

just a thought: why doesn't one of the skilled guys on this forum exchange MUs with him? Let him mail you the whole unit, you send a new one in exchange. This would make sure the whole thing can be reversed + the hungarian guy doesn't have to spend money and effort for reading the MU. what do you (hacker) guys think of this idea, would it be worth the trouble?

The guy might want to keep the MU as it is, you know... That kind of stuff has "colectible" value even.
4 years ago some SONY employee forgot a memory stick loaded with recovery software into a customer's PSP.
Back then who would suspect that an modified battery were used to make the PSP boot from the memory stick slot ?
Also, the memory stick contents were destroyed because people thought that dumping the files would be enough.
