Any idea about this:
It is happening only when a (specific) memory card is inserted, on 2 different Xbox 360's, it is entering "Set Manufacturing Mode", and after some time is showing this error: 0x81DA07FF, I'm unable to find info about it. Here is video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLmbeyemuIg - for a split second there is a blink on 0:20 - 0:21

stock 360 ? and it might not handle that memory card as stated by xbox.com...
judging by the error, it can't get the cards info to connect to it...
what memory card is it?
what dash is on it?
is the box ban or live?

This exact memory unit should be 100% genuine (other MU from the same batch is still working with the latest dashboard). Did you see the menu in the video?

Tested offline, tried it also on a unbanned and banned console latest dashboard, same result, "MTE Screening Utility" and so on as in seen on the video. Is this a test mode for the Xbox 360?

Are these jtaged boxes, and was the MU brand new and boxed when you got it?

Can you look at the contents of the memory unit, either through the xbox memory unit menus or via say xexmenu on a jtaged box and see what is there.

nope, neither of the xbox's jtaged, also the card is only used on a non-jtagged 360 for quite some time, and is displaying the same menu even on completely stock 360.

maybe durning screening the card wasn't fully setup...and live meaning testing the card live for workability
be nice to have a copy of that card to see what it's looking for...
do you have a MU reader to copy it to the pc?

unfortunately I have no reader, strange thing is it shows 70MB free, only 30 megs or so are saves, and when I press B after the error it works just fine (the unit is 256MB, and on the others MU i can save about 200 MB data ). The unit is bought together with original power adapter spares (the big and heavy 203W which are so hard to find), it was packed in green bag, like the old arcades MU's used to came with.

Well I suppose it is possible that it's software used in the manufacturing process.

If you have access to a jtaged box you can use that to view the memory card.

I really don't think I can get an access to a jtagged unit soon. Any other ways to read it? It'll be very interesting to see what does this menu do.

I don't suppose any software shows when you go into the MU in settings?  If so you could copy it to a USB stick.

Otherwise the only other way would be to buy something like the Datel Xbox 360 transfer kit.

All internal apps from MS (maintenance, test apps stuff and similar) require connection through the network port to function (I think of that as an anti leak protection because sometimes people forget discs and memory units on customer machines Tongue) with an server they set up on the repair center. Remember the leaked ping17 disc which had a "stress test" build of either PGR or Forza ? (I don't remember which game was it but it was one of the MS own racing titles)  It only runs if it detects that said "server".

It seems like this is a MS APP and it won't be useful at all without their "server" lol.

That might have been true at a point were we couldn't run arbitrary code.

Now we can, things can be different.

You mean, by patching the said code ?

Good news everyone! I managed to get the transfer kit to work, and cloned the card(it entered manufacturing mode again, with the cloned card!). Also some insights from a friend, which are purely speculations, and I will have to test it when I have a jtagged xbox: this card is used when they manufacture the 360's(hence the manufacturing stuff), probably to load the dashboard to them(they do not press any buttons, just plug the ethernet and the MU). Tomorrow will also try a wired pad and see if the menu is not autoentered, but in the video the screens are visible for less than a sec. I will erase a NAND and insert just the card (of course there will be no dashboard to be loaded).
The contents of the card look pretty normal when opened through XPort 360. I don't know if any of this is true, still haven't decided whom I will share the bin file with.

thanks for the clip Smiley I think the USBs are actually plugged a controller emulator, but the clip is from 2006 and some things in the production process have changed. Problem is if something come out of this most people will ultimately use it to play "backups", which is something I do not want to be part of.
