i had XBR3/8955 on my Jasper box with Cygnos and i had it working that i had a PAL version (original) in the cygnos NAND and a NTSC version in the xbox NAND.
now I have 9199 and freeboot 0.032 in there in PAL in both NANDs and both work (freeboot manually built from original 7371 PAL NAND).

now I tried patching the keyvault again but no go, i get different kinds of things but always got red lights when trying to boot from the NAND with NTSC in there.

first try was to just simply extract the KV from the patched-to-USA XBR NAND i had and putting it into the freeboot NAND -> no go, 2 red lights and some E.. error screen

then I tried keyvault modder on a couple of my Jasper NANDs but it said "modable: no" for all of them

then I tried opening the freeboot PAL NAND with 360 Flash Tool, patching the KV to NTSC/USA and flashing this one -> also some red lights

last attempt was to patch the original 7371 NAND and then build freeboot on top of that and then flash this one -> three red lights...

now you can say why patch region at all as i can boot anything anyway.
well: yes and no. i tried installing some USA locked game and while it DOES run from DVD the NXE installer will say "install not supported" if the region does not match Sad
i can also use ISO2GOD of cousre, still it would be nice to be able to do a normal NXE install of games from non matching regions just in case...

anyone know why the KV patching isn't working anymore. or am i just doing something wrong and there's some different, better tool to do the job or smthg...

also it would be even better if there was a patch for freeboot that would disablle the NXE installer's region check.

if you can change the region of the games easily to run on JTAGGED unit, why go to the bother of changing the console?

please tell me more about changing the region of a game "easily".
if your suggestion is reading out the game to HDD, extracting the ISO, running xextool and then either repackaging it all or uploading the extracted files and creating a quickboot container then i do not consider that "easily", that process takes a minimum of 30 minutes per game and that's substantially more than putting a 2nd region NAND into the box that i can simply switch with the cygnos within one second.

Change your Keyvault

i'm trying to but i keep failing, the question is why. it worked in xbr3/8955 and doesn't seem to work in fb32/9199. what's the proper way to do it in fb32/9199?

bottom line so far is,if it ain't broke don't fix it..
put xbr3 back on and  be done with it...
the 9199 dash update won't been needed for awhile...till it's sorted
unless now you can't deal with the though of not having a usb storage update of 16gb(9199 dash)..

weigh the odds...

I've got the same problem.

Flashed with Freeboot 0.032, which works fine.

Patched the region from PAL to NTSC with 360 Flash Tool, which gives me kv_enc.bin and kv_dec.bin.

nandpro usb: -w16 kv_enc.bin 1 1

gives me flashing red lights on boot. If I do the same command but with the original PAL kv.bin, it works fine again.

I'd really like to be able to patch it to NTSC if possible, as a lot of Xbox1 games will only work on my TV in NTSC mode.

i don't know where freeboot has the kv.bin stored?  still injected to 1 1?
if so extract it and then use keyvault_editor to mod the region, then re-encrypt and inject it back in to the freeboot image:)
just a thought .I myself haven't tried it yet....

Actually I think I might be able to achieve what I want just by modding the config.

I used 360 Flash Dump Tool 0.94 to load the freeboot.bin and used the Config section to change the Video Region from PAL to NTSC. Comparing the resulting files, I can see that this changes one byte from 03 to 01, at offset [3DBF23A] in freeboot.bin. I narrowed it down and extracted block EF8 from freeboot.bin and the relevant byte is at offset [0x023A] in that.

So I should be able to just flash the modified block EF8 to change the Video Region. I'll let you know how it goes.

Then again, I understand the modded Xbox1 Emu doesn't work under the freeboot 0.032, which rather ruins my plans!

just wondering what your LDV value is off the 6BL in 360 Flash Dump Tool 0.94?
and did you try to just change the region in there and save it and flashback using flash360?

6BL and it's LDV are both 0. I built the freeboot using the SMC from my XBR, as suggested somewhere (certainly not an orig NAND). Seems like I ended up with a blank Config though, at least I had to re-enter all the settings when I first booted.

I did try Flash360 when I was changing the Region in the KV, which didn't work, and even without changing the KV, Flash360 couldn't deal with remapping my bad blocks, so I ended up doing that manually and flashing with Xellous. I haven't tried Flash360 for patching the Config. To be honest, I've noticed some unexpected changes in files created with 360 FDT 0.94, so I'd rather just patch the one block manually and Nandpro it across for now.

Actually, I think I might have to change the Game region (from EU to USA), as well as Video region in Config to achieve what I'm trying to do. That changes offset [6022C-6022D] (in the extracted Config) from 02 FE to 00 FF. The Video region is at offset [6022A] in the extracted Config.

KV patching (region changing etc) can be easily done with freeboot 0.30 that has kv signature checks disabled patch. In 0.32 they removed the KV patch. -> Christmas lights. (Guy named Nevis tried this in finnish forums.) In other hand, 0.30:s biggest problem is that its corrupting profiles.

Well changing the Game Region and Video Region in Config (block EF8) didn't work too well.

First time it booted OK, but then I connected the HD and the fans went mental and I got flashing lights. Then I disconnected the HD and tried again and got E72. Flashed block EF8 back with the original and it's fine again.

Perhaps the first boot it hadn't updated properly and was still running in PAL-EU mode, which would explain why it booted OK once.

Looks like I won't be playing my Xbox1 games just yet  Angry

i wonder if it's an issue with the console as i never had a problem going from ntsc to pal...never tried pal to ntsc
and this was with XBR_3 only...
something to look into though...
does any of your XBOX1 games work at all?

Yeah, Guilty Gear X2 works fine but that's an NTSC game so works at 60hz (the only refresh rate my TV supports).

The others are PAL and so I guess they only work at 50hz. Thinking about it, I'm not sure changing the Xbox's region will help much. I might try flashing an NTSC (KV & Config) XBR3 to test it though.

Is there any way to patch Xbox1 games from PAL to NTSC, so that they run at 60hz?

I did some more testing today and found that the games seem to work at 60hz if the 360 is set to 480p, but at 50hz if set to 720p or 1080i. That is except for the odd NTSC game I've got like Guilty Gear X2, which works at 60hz at 720p.

Unfortunately at 480p the games play in 4:3, even though the 360 dash is set to widescreen. There's something not right there as it says here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_games_compatible_with_Xbox_360 "Note that all compatible games will stretch to widescreen (potentially distorting the aspect ratio) if the Xbox 360 is configured for standard definition (480i / 576i) or enhanced definition (480p / 576p)."

Not that I'd want to have to switch to 480p every time I wanted to play an Xbox1 game. It'll be easier just to keep my Xbox1 for now.
