You need to install mono to use this on those systems( i will not provide help on installing mono)

To run: Open a terminal, type "mono /path/to/xtaf.exe" without the quotes

NOTICE: i developed this on mono under linux, haven't tried on windows, theoretically it should work

This may seem like a noob question, but how do you initially extract the Data files from USB?

I used your program through CMD, and after looking through the error codes, it apparently needed the path to the extracted files.

How exactly do you get them to begin with?

EDIT: Figured out how to get the files. For anyone wondering, you have to enable "View Hidden Files"  But as you said, the program is a bit buggy.  I can't even set the directory right.

EDIT: I got it working after a while though.  I was able to extract all the contents of Data0000.  Data0001 and Data0002 are strange though.  The extraction process was exactly the same as for 0000, but there weren't any files.

They are just hidden files. It seems the answer is obvious enough if you have the drive on hand.

I've been working with some of my game-saves, and it looks like they're all corrupted.  What I mean by that is that they can't be opened by any programs. I tried the Modio apps, and they all say the files are incompatible.

Is there a chance that the extraction somehow corrupted them?

The GUI is extremely helpful, much easier to use, but I'm afraid the files are still corrupted.

i've tried opening up my game saves and profile in Modio and other misc. save editors

all say that the files are either corrupted or invalid

EDIT: Just tried on Winxp x32 SP3, same problems.
My files have been taken from a banned/crippled console, so that may be somehow affecting it.
However, if I transfer my profile through HDD, it works fine.

Excellent work, and fast too. Within a couple days of the dashboard update, very impressive. You might consider throwing the source and app up on a place like google code, it'd provide free hosting for the releases rather than using megaupload or whatever.
