Non-ms Hdd Between Different Jtag Consoles?

I have several consoles all of which I have JTAG modded. They all have an external SATA port soldered to them as well. I have a 1 TB non-MS SATA HDD that is connected and working fine on my primary console. My question is- should I be able to connect said HDD to any of the other secondary consoles and have it work without having to format it first?

The reason I ask is because when I plug it into any of my secondary consoles it shows up under Memory as "Unknown". Is that because it needs to be formatted or because of bad wiring? This HDD was originally formatted and setup under the primary console. AFAIK you could move MS HDD's back and forth between consoles correct?

Thats odd because when i move my hd to a friends jtag console everything is fine....

Maybe I wired it backwards since doing the first one...
