I have been thinking about my nand on my xenon, "am i right in assuming i only have 16mb storage capacity on my nand". What i would like to know is what chip is used for the nand, where i could find a supplier and if i could use a 1Gb chip.

what would be the point of this modification? are u trying to have different flash banks or something? me personally i dont think it will work, but you are always welcome to prove me wrong.

One use would be to store multiple dashboard versions or something. In theory, it could work. If the model is the same, but only the storage is > then all you have to do is write the files onto it. The OS has support for big block nands.

I want my 360's to have bigger flash chips. (coolfactor) I have seen a 4Gb nand which i think will work only problem im having is finding a seller who accepts paypal/PO most are wanting credit cards. I can also access the flash chip through xexloader and could write my essential system apps, which amounts to fanspeed patches for now. A multi dash would be nice, code to boot from a second flash address and revert to original if failed would be good for dash research.

I doubt the dash will even support that much, not to mention that you likely won't have enough data lines. And if you did, you'd have to find out the resistor config for that much. And either way, writing to that extra nand space WILL corrupt XBR due to the bug in it. So all in all, pointless.

So its a possibility it could work? Im going to try and source some of the 1Gb nands, the nand im looking for has the exact voltage tollerance as the original. "no one has said that it is absolutely not going to work" maybe at worst im restricted to chip access beyond 3FF range What's the bug in XBR? btw

XBR for big block nands is actually a hybrid image (SB/BB). When writing data to the nand-memcard, the console doesn't see the partitions right and will occassionally write data to the XBR part of the nand flash, resulting in a dead box until you reflash.

I never knew that, i have xenons and a falcon though. On the Hynix website Small Block 128Mb | 256Mb | 512Mb | 1Gb Big Block 1Gb | 2Gb | 4Gb | 8Gb | 16Gb | 32Gb I have phoned hynix in surrey, and apparently they wont sell to the public only companies. im still looking for a reseller with a method i can pay by. Debitcard/Paypal/PO

Why not just use the Palpal plugin? It generates a Mastercard so you can use your Paypal account on sites that don't accept Paypal.

Does that still exist, or is it only available for the US citizens?

Ah, good question. Me being in the US, I'm not sure sure where else it's available. I assumed Paypal would offer it everywhere. Anything for them to draw in more business.

How come nobody's thought of ripping one out of a usb stick? AFAIK it doesn't matter which manufacturer it is. And "amount of lines"? They're all the same, because unlike parallel flash, this works in a different way. The only thing you'd need to take care of would be the flashconfig... both smc and kernel need to be adjusted to use up the whole nand, as it currently only supports up to 2Gbit.

Excellent idea a thought had crossed my mind but soon left, i was then inspired to open my usb pen. I Just opened an integral 2 GB. (actually 1.90GB chip)
TOSHIBA XD8833 TAIWAN 08039AD TH58NVG4D4C1G00
As soon as i get around to dumping the nand off one of my xenons/aquire cpukey! this chip is going on. i must make/buy a usb flash cable 40 mins on lpt is unbearable.

let us know about the results. I'm just in the middle of fixing the Zune 8gb player and I found them inside: Hynix HY27UV08BG5M

You guys are letting your crazy imaginations running too lose. Neither the 8GB nor the 2GB chip as mentioned above will work. Go and save yourself some time, and forget about it.

If that gamerscore or tenth prestige is so important to you that you absolutely need a pointless number - get it legit If you are just trying to show off - throw a party(real party, not nerd party, some of you would miss that point) If you like to be a fagot and go by "Jtags are for Mw2" - GTFO
