well basically the way i did it, was i downloaded  KDX 1.5 loaded the file then it gave me the drives key , and told me the version of the firmware etc... and thats how i was a ble to tell ! might be crude but $#!t !

That is not a correct backup, perhaps you are doing it wrong, it should show your drive version and such..

also what drive do you have , cause i dont think kdx 1.5 supports the hitachi dumps as of yet ! if you own a hitachi then mabe thats why your bin file says its not right !
