I'm 99.999% sure there isn't a solution to my problem but I'm gonna ask anyway because sometime a guys appears with the craziest ideas and they work.

I bought a Jtaggable xbox 360 motherboard, it's going to be my warhorse, is the one i'm gonna use so I can keep my other jtagged console away from danger (RROD) I'm very paranoid and don't wan to loose my jtag console, I know that these console are getting harder to find, and the future for the updated console doesn't look too good.

anyway.... here is the problem:

1. the motherboard I bought doesn't have a DVD drive, I don't need one and don't intend to get one, i'm not going to use it.
2. My PC is very old, so old it doesn't have any SATA ports, this means I can not transfer anything to the xbox 360 HDD from my PC.

SO that only leaves FTP as a way to transfer files from my PC to the x360 HDD, Now I know in order to use FTP you already need an app like xexmenu or Freestyle Xbox 360 Dash for the FTP to work, but how do I get xexmenu or Freestyle Xbox 360 Dash to the HDD in the first place if I don't have a dvd drive or I can not transfer anything to the xbox 360 HDD from my PC. that is the dilemma.

So is there a way I can ftp?
and the following are not options:
a) getting a new PC and throwing mine to the dumpster
b) buying a dvd drive
C)anything else that requires me to buy something or going to a relative's house to use their computers.

I do have a VIA6421 SATA card on my PC but I can not get a SATA power supply to power the HDD (just the SATA connector).

The only option I can think of is getting the cpu key from the motherboard so I can retrieve the dvd key for that console get the dvd drive from my other console and use the dvd drive so I can install xexmenu, but if you can think of another simpler idea please let me know as I don't want to touch my other console.

Thank you

You can hook up the HDD to PC and copy the files into the right folders with xplorer360 or xport.

Buy a XBOX HD to USB adapter, or buy a molex -> sata power adapter. Then transfer the software via xplorer360 or whatever software you choose.

things like CK3 use a molex to power the drive, not a sata power connector.

yeah I think that is the only option I have, gonna flash the firmware with the motherboard's dvd key, Install xexmenu and then take the dvd drive out.

thank you.

I still don't understand why you don't just buy something like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812123119&cm_re=molex_sata-_-12-123-119-_-Product . Huh

AFAIK you shouldn't need to key the dvd drive to the motherboard as it is not an xbox game disk format, the keying is only required with disks that have a security sector that needs to be validated. just putting the DVD drive from another console in for the purpose of running the disk that has xexmenu or freestyle on it to install

I didn't know that, that makes things simpler, just plug the drive with xexmenu in, Install xexmenu to HDD and done.

thank you for the info, really appreciate it.
