Hi,

I have a problem with my Xbox (JTA'ged Jasper 16mb, XBR3): after playing Beatles Rockband or Lips for approx. 30mins, it suddenly turns off: no error message, no blinking, just off. It starts ok again, but after another appox. 30mins - bam again!

It does not happen with every game, e.g. GTAIII (XBOX 1) runs ok for 3 hours and more, GTA4 runs for hours...
But with Beatles Rockband and Lips... thats just the games my wife wants to play and it sort of embarasses me, I was only allowed to buy the box cause I promised her that she would also like it cause of the karaoke games ;-)
So could it be cause of the mics? I mean if it was temperature related, GTA4 would stress it lot more, wouldn't it?

I'm talking playing from original disk and from ripped to internal HDD, doesn't make a difference.

Has anybody had this issue?

Thanks!

if it was temperature related, it would do the overheat emergency thing (2 red lights, fans at maximum speed).

try flashing your XBR image over 360flash to ensure all dash files are 100% intact

may not be the solution just throwing ideas at you.

strange problem ive never heard of before

check ur psu isnt throwing a wobbler either and that there isnt any loose cables etc

ie sitting still playing gta or your wife dancing about singing lol

but I found the reason and did'nt believe it at first: it is the TV!
- I play upstairs on my computer monitor via HDMI - no problem!
- For my wife I took the xbox into the living room for her to play on our TV (old CRT) via SCART - problem!

To verify:
- I played GTA on the TV SCART - same thing after 30min off!
- And opposite - Rockband on HDMI - no problem!

but why and what between TV and XBOX goes so wrong to turn the box off..?

bad cabling, faulty contact, short, no good grounding...?

How to find out?

Are you using the simple Compsite/Right/Left cable with a scart converter or are you using a cable with the scart connector directly attatched?

Yes, the simple one that came with my xbox. Plus it was connected to a scart switch.
But that did not matter - same thing when exclusivly /directly attached to TV or through this scart switch.

With another old CRT it works, so I think I'll just give up with this one.
I wanted to buy a bigger flatscreen for a long time.

Thanks everybody!
