You still use the diode. You just are supposed to use a piece of wire on the board and not solder the stiff diode lead directly to it, cause that is very likely to lever the solderspot off the board at the slightest bit of stress.
If you soldered it directly to it, glue the diode and the solder spot down with hotglue to prevent any movement.

ya well as long as you have it heated it  down good ...glue that sucker down...
and what i was saying meaning NO diode ,I meant as in just solder a wire to that point and a diode in-between wires facing towards that point

shoot sorry Arakon ,didn't know you replied....

i find when i solder i allways put solder on the point you are soldering to 1st and the wire (or diode, resister) and dont use 1 of them cheap soldering irons i use a weller WSD 80 soldering station picked it up years ago and the tip is a small point aswell. You must use the right tools for the right job. I bought it back in the original xbox days when u had to do the L0 or D0 point from memory been long time since done 1 but was tiny. Anyway bit off topic but if you use the tips that others have provided aswell in this topic and other threads if you search it is not really that hard at all... If you are not very good at soldering but have the equipment then do soe test work on some parts from an electronic shop buy a pcb board with small point or pull apart somthing thats old and broken for the circuit board and just mess about would be my advice..

on the falcon i had issues with yesterday i soldered, removed, and resoldered the DB1F1 point in my quest to get the dash working

so happy as i fooked the first falcon up i tried hee hee

its easier as said to solder the diode flipped (black side away) to the JTAG point then run a wire to the DB1F1 point

tin the point then slide the wire on top horizontally then touch the iron for a second job done

nice job everyone, miles more help then i got on other sites. I got the initial xell screen loading up but it doesn't finish loading into xbr. seems to have a problem connecting to the network. When I boot up normal without booting xell i get flashing red and green lights so I don't know, i'm happy though, 1 step further to sucess and that leaves hope Wink

ok skip the christmas lights... as in a pm ..it's been fixed.....
lets not worry about the boot to dash...let's just take easy steps for now in xell and updating to xellous ok?

if your running XBR_Falcon_8955_3a inject xelous into it ,like this

do it right to the nand.....

nandpro lpt: +W16 xell-2f.bin 40

now make sure your net connection is hooked to the 360(router)...

now unplug 25 sec....plug back in press eject

xellous should load and show you a local(lan) ip you can type into your pc's browser (firefox works the best)<my option

let's see where your at from here...this way the reported results will show....

nope nothing, since i updated the box turns on but nothing happens. just a blank screen and only the center green power light is on.

*update* i also hot glued the points today so they won't be moving around in there.

those nands i sent you are fresh, i dunno why they're 16,896k that's just the size they came out. they work perfectly fine to flash back my box so maybe the falcon dash 5766 added a thing or two and increased the size a bit. just my thoughts.

no.. no worries about the size ..by you saying "sending it in 2 parts" is what through me off..lol(gmails linits are better then hotmails...)
anyways,
you ain't  trying to do this with the hdmi port are you?
and your stock(orig) nand when flashed back is working to the dash?(kinda confirms the lpt or usb hookup are correct)

aye i read about the usb thing and it sounded far too technical for my first round. no hdmi just yer basic composite. whatever ye did to it, it booted up, no xell mind you but it booted like normal without me having to remove the jt wires. also got a new dash 5786 i think? or maybe it was 5687 dunno but it's not the one i had in the begginning which was 5766. anyways good frikkin job man and many thanx for stayin up late to do this. So now what? do i flash in xbr from this point?

ON TOPIC

yes  XBR_Falcon_8955_3a ...

as in the read me rename your  XBR_Falcon_8955_3a to xbr.bin

1) Extract KV and Config blocks from orig.bin
nandpro orig.bin: -r16 rawkv.bin 1 1
nandpro orig.bin: -r16 rawconfig.bin 3de 2

2) Inject those blocks into XBR.bin
nandpro XBR.bin: -w16 rawkv.bin 1 1
nandpro XBR.bin: -w16 rawconfig.bin 3de 2

3) Flash
nandpro lpt: -w16 XBR.bin

unplug 25 sec plug back in press eject.....
xell should load and should show you your cpu key so get ready to snap a pic...lol(if not don't worry we will be loading xellous soon)

I don't know why it wasn't taking xellous or even not booting...but let's just take it step by step and ignore that.....Smiley

then unplug 25 sec replug and press on to the dash...
you have to burn xexloader.iso to a cd and run it after you are in the dash for the system to see the usb...grab a stick and throw flash360 and xellous on it

pre xellous;
rename xell-2f.bin to updslot0.bin.
add it to  usb stick.
fire up the 360 loaded xexloader to get to the usb stick.
run flash360.
at the option screen  picked option ,(button b)...write updated areas of the rebooter...
it will bring you to the next option screen (button a)...write updslot0.bin(which was xell-2f.bin renamed to updslot0.bin) using XBR_3.
let it patch it and do a power-down and unplug (from the back of the 360 25 seconds)..
plug back in press eject to get to xellous and you will see
Wonderful stuff, also leaving you with a nice ip addy to call from your pc....

*update* alrighty it loaded up xell and i think i got the fuses, crapy camera. so i put 3 and 5 together or 4 and 6 to get my cpu key? do i just try both in what program? had a bit of a scare there, when i booted up the second time i got rrod but i shut it down and booted up again and i got xell again. so i'm confused about the steps, do i try updating xell as before or do i try the cd xexloader method first?

i can't find flash360 on xbins
found it
like...OMG!!! lol thank you thank you thank you! so i guess now that xellous loaded and showed me the keys and the ip and i was able to get in there and download all my special info files. now i can start using the new stuff?

another noob question: when i boot it up for normal use do i boot with eject or the normal method?
also regarding my network connection, is there a way to disable connecting to xboxlive? I don't want a friend playing to connect and fudge my system. i know enouph myself not to but a friend or guest playing might click into it not knowing. Or would it be easier to simply disconnect the cable until it's needed?

{normal method}..yep power button
{network connection} unplug net cable ...sign in to your profile by clicking on your gamer tag box/avatar, it will show couldn't sign in. press cancel  and your gamer tag box/avatar will show (disconnected xbox live) now your signed into your hard drive:) click on your your gamer tag box/avatar,within this menu, click on profile, within this menu, click auto-sign-in,within this menu, untick live/msn to disable auto sign in..now you know your signed into your hard drive only. on occasion it will ask to sign in(first boot/and xbl content)just click cancel and you will be fine..... (remember if your using a router you can block the 360's ip wan access,so it would only connect to your local network(pc,routers inside house) or as you said, disconnect the cable until it's needed

ok now i am winging you off...lol you are free to fly..lol naaaaa. happy homebrewing Smiley
please make all donations to XbH and post in the approximate section Tongue
