hey everyone,

I have a liteon/jasper board that the previous owner while attempting to flash either powered the drive upside-down or didn't have the xbox-pc grounded.
Result is a dead drive (tried dos, l-o-erase & x360usb pro) and a xbox that keeps blinking and ejecting the tray with "opening" on the dashboard. (I tried bridging 3.3v to the tray status pin as suggested in another thread without results).

Anyhow, to stay on-topic. What can I do about the dvd drive ? I have checked most resistors near the power connector with the multimeter and they seem good. The pcb also looks good after a visual inspection ... help ?

if u are just needing to repair the drive, then just replace it.  u can usually find pcb's laying around for $0-10.

looking for the same pcb, but I would prefer, however, some odd tricks can succeed. I can handle soldering iron in August, but how to fix it? I am also part of other pcb with the same drive

ps. Now I read somewhere that this is only r207 resistor fuse and can be omitted (bridged) What do you think?

Anyone have any ideas about this one? I just need the key.

A friend sent his xbox to me for a firmware update. I flashed it back with the old MRA hack, and as you can see, I did a nice job on the soldering, so I'm not a soldering retard. However, I'm thinking that the owner probably tried to update the drive himself from the looks of things. I'm guessing power was plugged in upside down. Any suggestions on a fix? Or can I send the board to someone to grab the drive key for me? I cleaned up a bunch of the solder on the face of the board. It was pretty bad.
Thanks, guys!
(Yes I'm willing to pay :p)

iateshaggy et al,

Fantastic thread!  I've tried to read through the whole thing and have tried to dump my key trying a few suggestions but without success.  A little help would be greatly appreciated!

A little history.  First, I tried to dump the key to my 74850 (now 0251 with latest dashboard) with the PMT method and after a few phatkey failures the drive's properties became unreadable by jungle flasher but jf could see the drive as after power cycle the status would change from 0x80 to 0x52.  Dosflash and dosflash32 had the same status readings.  I was advised that the only way to recover they from the drive was to execute the MRA hack.

Second, I tried the first MRA hack on page #1 (as well as a few suggestions to other members a few pages back) and have had no success successfully dumping my key.  Now pads 101 and 122 are missing and all that remains on the board is a 3.3a jumper.  Have seen various status from 0xFF, 0x80, 0x52, to 0x7F.

Any help in pointing me in the direction of what I need to do to dump this key would be greatly appreciated!

is unreparable? just the tray isn't working, if i open manually the tray and insert a game and close manually it works after restart the xbox.
I checked all the points and pads and i have continuity with the multimeter, the only point that i think is broken is the yellow point in the nex picture but i have continuity in the 2 points i supose to bridge to repair it, i need to bridge them anyway? Thanks a lot

EDIT: Is just fixed, i get the keys, flashed to 3.0 and cleaned the pcb again. Now works perfectly, thanks for all

Hi i have a problem with this board. I edit an image from ZerOneX, i don't have a camera.

With the multimeter i have a shortcircuit between the 1,8V line to the MT, the red line is cutted, for discover the damage. Alle the 3 point in RED is short to GND, the Yellow point is no short with GND.

The MT is burned?

honestly, u need to bring it to a pro and let them sort it.  at this point the easiest course of action would be to swap the flash chip to a clean board and pray u didn't fry it already, then dump it using pmt method.  what country are you in?
