Having a major problem here Sad. I read this topic from page 1 to 49 and tried everything u guys said but it isn't working for me. I have a short on the 1.8v pads. Measured everything and all the rest looks ok. I got 102.5kohm when i measure 3.3v to GND. Measured all the voltages points and everything is ok 3.3v 1.8v nothing is blown up as far as i can see. I can't find the short anywhere. When i boot the drive (only the pcb) the MT chip gets hot instantly and can't be detected or put into vendor mode (used the easy probe 2 solution). I added a pic which can be found at http://img257.imageshack.us/i/p1000042z.jpg/ or http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/2279/p1000042z.jpg as u can see there's nothing wrong with the 1.8v pads (not that i can see). Anyone knows how to solve this? I just need the key don't care about the drive Smiley. Thnx....

How to tell if the MT is burned @ Game over.

Fix your board like i have drawn in picture.
IF the resistance is 95-110 Kohm drive is fine you can dump it.
IF there is no resistance 0 ohm @ open circuit r207 is burned fix it, new zero ohm resistor or solder bridge.

Burned Drives, Measure resistance 3,3V to GND if the resistance is low like 1 ohm - 20 ohm.

First cut Pink line 1 and measure resistance 3,3V to GND if the resistance goes high 95-110 Kohms the drive is burned game over!!

Second cut Blue line 2 and measure resistance 3,3V to GND if the resistance goes high 95-110 Kohms the drive is burned game over!!

To keep it short....received an Xbox with DVD powered upside down (here we go again), pin 101 has gone charcoal, so I started reading all that was posted here and....First, done the cuts, placed the jump wire R207 to C03, got 6 Ohms, went on with the new check...cut pink, got 1,6 Kilo...is it recoverable? Cutting Blue line (step 2) gives me 100k.

Ok well I did that... I keep getting Low Ohm results which is good i think... But since I f***ed up pin101 there must be something wrong cuz my ck3 cant power the device.(short i guess)
Can anyone tell me what i did wrong?

Here the pics:

~100k is good, not sure what low is since that isn't a number, but if you are significantly less than 100k, then you are probably screwed.

thanks for your answer

somehow i got jungleflash to finally recognize the drive again and it also could eject everything worked fine...

when i plugged it into the xbox i got 3 red leds though... after trying to turn it on with ck3 again... it wont work anymore

edit:
i think it might be a soldering point which got loose... but not sure

3,3V to GND Resistances.

0 - 1 ohms short-circuit.

1 - 30 ohms burned MT chip

30 - 400 ohms maybe burned pin 122 tx/rx.

95K - 110K ohms Drive is OK.

20M  - 30M ohms MRA 3,3V fix is not connected @ R207 to C03 jump wire.

If i cut the 1.8v pads so the chip won't get it anymore will i still be able to read the flash? 1.8v measured to the ground gives me a beep so there's a shortcut that i can't find and the mt chip heats up.... dream or ihateshaggy can u help me pls?

1,8V line is burned in MT Chip. So you cant dump it.

Hi All

This is my first post here. Be nice.

This is the board that I stuffed up very badly (I think). I think I burned R207 and the voltage regulator (red marks).

Do I have any chance of fixing this? I have a Blaster CK3. To run the Blaster CK3 I have to keep the LT switch.

Please help me.

I would like to make a contribution if this interests anyone. I had a problem with my soldering iron which is 25W without temperature control. So I built my own temperature control, I used a ceiling fan dimmer switch and an ordinary single power point. The picture is attached. Have a look at the solder tip which is thinned down to the size of a toothpick. I left the soldering iron on for five hours continuously. Look at the tip, it is just hot enough to melt the solder without burning the tip at all. If I can help anyone with this, please message me.

step one is removing the lt switch, your chances of doing it w/ only a soldering iron and not pulling more pads and traces up are slim to none.  then once it is off we can see what is really going on and show you the right way to do it.  do not power the drive again unless you check the solder joints to ground for continuity and you are sure there is none except for the ground point on the lt switch.
