Hi Dream
Code:
How to tell if the MT is burned @ Game over.
Burned Drives, Measure resistance 3,3V to GND if the resistance is low like 1 ohm - 20 ohm.
Damage come from bad "360 xtractor pro" , 12v go to 3.3v I think ( not sure )... soldering is perfect good.
testing :
Drive soldered back to original state and I get : 3,3V to GND resistance = ~90 ohm
chipset is hot

Code:
First cut Pink line 1 and measure resistance 3,3V to GND if the resistance goes high 95-110 Kohms the drive is burned game over!!
include all cuts again and R207 to C03 I get 96 kohms

what is my verdict ?

I don’t have the answer to this one, newer seen drive like that.
Can you send the drive to me?

hi sorry if im posting in the wrong place. i could really do with some help. i have used boxxdr method to get key a few times before,my soldering skills are o.k, but i am having trouble with a 83850c v1.
i cut the traces as normal and connected wires but when i connect to jf it does not recognise drive and wont intro (without recognising drive) either. i was worried so i repaired traces and removed wires but still nothing, now the drive wont even eject or spin and the laser isnt coming on.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
i havent got the key. i have spare drives so that isnt a problem i just need the key
drive is flashed with lt+ (not by me) dont have key
update: pad 101 has continuity with most pads on board but i cant find a short circuit

Check the zero ohm resistors @ fuses R207 R204 R203.

thank yo for the reply dream. there was a short near pad 101. i have fixed this problem and jf detects drive but i cant for the life of me get flas chip properties or 0x72 all i get is 0x52,0xd2,0x51,0xd1. this is bugging me. i have done this hack a few times b4 but they were stock drives not lt1.1, is there any difference in the method.

can i ask u m8 y is it ur doing this method if u already done the drive b4 ? if you havent rebooting ur pc in a while ur pc should still have the key for that drive in the JFDB in ur registry files!

Try to use 18 ohm resistor.

Hi!
I hope you can help me.
I got a 74 Liteon which is not recognized by the pc anymore. The chip gets hot when I powered it on and between GND and 3,3V are about 5Ohms. I just did the BOXXDR cut but JF only says 0x80 and I can't get it in vendor mode. Is there hope to get the key? Or can I just throw it out of the window? Wink

the first one is fine, stop worrying about drives being detected and hit the intro button.

i did and i got 7f many times  if you look at the first pic the left cut from that pad is slightly longer and cut into another trace does that even matter or what Huh

Is there a chance to get the key when my drive has about 4 ohms between pin101 and GND?

Sometimes jungleflasher says that it is a 74850c so there must be life.

if you see there is that low of resistance where it should be much higher indicating a short that can potentially destroy your drive, why would you turn the drive on?

it had ix lt v1.1 on
trying to update to LT+ for the new games like u do

when dumping the FW with JF i get all 7777777777777777777777
now when testing points on the board i get a short from the points in the pic

im sure the other point is GND

any help is greatly apreciated mate

i have another board here and them points are not shorted
so im thinking somethgin has gone somewhere.

the drive picks up in JF and i get status 72 and chip/drive properties just fine.
just get the 7777777777777777 Sad grrrrr

thanks

Ok so I stumbled upon this thread earlier today....much earlier lots of pages to read, it was good reading though! so I decided to dig out an old Liteon PCB and have a go at a repair

This is my effort:

After messing about a second time with the R207 resistor it came off, so I just bridge the connection

The drive is recognised by JF, goes into vendor mode and I am able to write the firmware (done this successfully several times according to JF)

I'm not to sure about the 3.3v resistance settings with my multimeter, If i set the meter at 20k I get 10.26. @200k I get 50.4, @2000k I get 104

Hi, second time I tried to use an xecuter lt switch and I have screwed up :-(
Lifted a pad on the board, havent dumped it yet and I cannot get it to turn on using an xtractor pro.
I tried bridging the cuts but still nothing :-( Ive got to page 16 reading on the thread  and I like the idea with the pins on the lt switch - would that work and how do i repair this thing!

Anyone in the UK who can fix it please feel free to pm me!
Ok I cleaned it up ! now the xtractor powers up when i connect it, I hope its a good thing.

if you couldn't fix it by fixing it, then you can't fix it.  maybe try letting one of us take a shot at it.
