if you have 83850c, what is the manufacture date on the actual drive itself?
there are 2 versions of the 83850c liteon, v1 can be dumped using LO83info (integral to jungleflasher, also available standalone) v2 is the precursor to the 93450c which requires MRA method.
If you can hook the drive up successfully without lockups, jungleflasher supports secret inquiry on 83850c liteons, it will tell you what version it has just by clicking LO83info button/dvdkey32 tab.
Also, try telling us specifically what onboard sata controller you have, if you expect help, help us to help you!

OK, so I am back.  Have had little luck with the UK repair guys, no answer so far as they are probably busy, so decided to take another look.

I've avoided using the LT switch and went straight for the Boxxdr method.  Now, when JF loads it doesn't see the drive, but if I intro it finds the flash controller properties no problem and goes into 0x72.  The issue is that no matter whether I have the switch set to on or off I always get the parse failed error when reading the firmware.  It's not been erased as I've only just got it reading in JF.

Some posts I've read indicate this is still the 3.3v line causing issues.

I'd still really like to fix this myself if possible & learn.

Thanks.

I have the SAME problem! Posted days ago but without any answer..
Now I will try to swap the MT chip to a working board.. If the problem is power related, then I will be able to get it recognized by JF. Right?

xdp, use mra hack to dump drive if haven't already.  this is how to fix to stock after.

eraser01:  you fix involves removing epoxy and soldering to very tiny spots.  if you screw up even one point, your drive is lost, you really should leave the repair up to someone else.  i am in the us if you would rather that route.
