I f***ed up big time.

http://img580.imageshack.us/f/11062010082.jpg/ (red color means that its broken)

Is there anyway to fix this? I was so close of hacking the drive but then I got some "parse failed" error and after that the pads started to break (when I had to resolder the wires etc.).

btw. Dream, if I'm not all wrong, you live in Finland, right? Well, me too. Could you fix it if I would send it for you ? (of course I would pay)

Ei näytä edes pahalta perus settiä. Kokeile dumppa easy probella vastas 66 sivu 4.

Translation... it is not that bad. You don´t need to fix broken capasitor. Just install 3,3V to the mt chip side cap point.
Last measure 3,3V to gnd 95 Kohm - 110 Kohm is good and easy probe it.

MT Damage: http://i48.tinypic.com/s5bbia.jpg

translation: So it's enough if I just do the connections like in the picture, and then do the firmware dump with easy probe?

Wow, nice. I got it actually working. Jungleflasher detects the drive Cheesy Well, now it's time to build the easy probe Smiley

edit: Okey, got the drive in vendor mode with easy probe but now it's the same problem again "parse failed". What should I do?

edit2: nvm, it works now Smiley got the dvdkey etc. Thanks Dream!! (if u want pics, just tell me Smiley)

edit: and the drive don't read anything, it doesn't even spin the dvds.

CatchThaBeat,

Dream, this is great but Im a bit confused. Do I have to make any cuts or do I just connect the colors. And for the light blue, I just connect to the switch? Also, if I get the key successfully, which wires would I leave in place to have it working after its flashed?
Thanks.

CatchThaBeat,

Make Easy probe2 reply66 page4...

Fix like this and measure 3,3 to gnd 95Kohms - 110Kohms is good and dump it.

^^ Oh geeze, so that confuses me more now. Do I just disregard your first diagram you illustrated for me and now just do the probe? Do you have aim/skype?

I have No aim/skype... Think  Huh  Easy probe is same thing as switch.

OK dream I think I get it. Just to clear up a few things: The yellow line in the first picture, is that connected before I probe or is that part of the "fix" step? And for the black line, do I reconnect that in the "fix" step?

I understand the second diagram, as Im reconnecting all pin wholes that are damaged to the 3.3 sources, but curious on the first picture. If you could explain a bit more that would be great, thanks!!

Hi there,

This one goes to Dream. I saw your fixes and remembered that i have an elite with fried LITE-ON v9.
My goal is to read the firmware. Tried few of your fixes, tried to think something of myself but nothing. All i achieved was that xbox LED stoped blinking when I switched to resistor. So any help is appreciated.

Here are the pics.

http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/4959/needtobefixed.jpg

EDIT: Removed all the epoxy. My multimeter is out of battery so i cant check resistance and voltage. I did some research, connected 3.3V to all needed points but still no luck. Now the dvd error led doesnt blink at all. The chip is only a bit warm so i guess no short circuits. My guess would be that i need to fix voltage regulator cause i think 1.8V is gone. I have soldering skills, I can connect wires directly to pins. So a diagram of exactly what wire goes where would be perfect. And I prefer switch, not the probe Smiley

EDIT 2: OK. So I just did the early MRA method
Quote
-Lift pin 101 and 122
-solder a cable to pin 100, pin 101 and one to 3,3V
-use a 2-way switch which either connects 101 to 3,3V or to 100
-put the switch into the position so that it connects 100 to 101
-power drive
-start Dosflash, it will recognise the SPI with Status x72
-if you read it out now, it will just give you a .bin full of FFFFFFFF, but thats OK, this is how we tricked the Flash Controller to think the SPI is empty
-put the switch in the other position (so that 101 is connected to 3,3V)
-now read the flash
Broke pin 101 but got away with that by  soldering really thin wire to the exposed part of the pin. Anyway... Nothing new. When 101 is connected to 100 LED doesnt blink, when 101 is connected to 3.3V it blinks. Neither the JF, nor the DosFlash64 sees my drive. So I did everything I could. Now I need advice from pros.   Shocked and it's 4:38 AM in Lithuania and I have electronics engineering exam at 8:00 AM :/

inturbo,

Newer seen lo like that nice work... 3,3V and 5V is missing so i have to measure little before posting the repair picture.
There is no 1,8V because there is no 5V… regulator uses the 5V line so no 1,8V…

You are making things worse so stop it now, i will show you how it is done.

CatchThaBeat,

Install all 4 jumpwires like i have drawn, Black is your pad 122 cut...
Do you really think that your repair/Dump picture is incorrect? Think again.

Yeah. That's my friends. Connected the wrong way. He gave it away. So it would be cool to fix it Smiley

Make Easy Probe reply66 page4...

Your Dump pic, Measure resistance 3,3V to GND 95Kohm - 110Kohm is good and 5V to GND @3kohm is good.
Then Dump it...

OK Dream. I apologize, but this is what I have after cleaning it up a lot. I tried your wiring method but unsuccessful. Here are updated pics. Please notice the traces damaged below.

I just need to read the drive, if i can fix it that would be great. I tried to read your diagrams on pages before but seem 3.3v is not coming in from pins on the top right so it wont work. Any illustration would be greatly appreciated. Thank you dream!
