If your CK3 doesnt power on then you have a short to gnd on the board!
Check you havent got any excess solder on any other lines.

alright i need some help, i did all that was told to me and i still can't get it to power up. i disconnected the right side and it worked (but didn't work properly: didn't eject, get recognized by jungleflasher...etc) but when i reconnect it ck3 rejects it and doesn't power up. i know that it's shortcircuited somewhere but i just don't see it. maybe someone with experience can give me an idea. is the middle part completely cut out (going by my below picture) or do i have to make sure about it somehow? i have a multimeter that i could use.

looks like it's coming up really big here so here's a link to the image: http://i41.tinypic.com/e9x9x4.jpg

please and thank you to whoever helps me Sad

When i draw your soldering work it looks like this.

Clean that and re do all. Use less solder. Wires are bad so don’t take all the plastic cover off just little bit of it and solder it.

Use this repair picture.

Iīm pretty sure that when he solders like that, heīs not gonna able to solder to that SMD-leg  Wink

Give the drive to someone who can solder, donīt destroy it completely with those f***ups.

HiTec,
You are probably right.

tazmania,
Look closely at my work, how the wires are soldered and try to do same.

first, thank you so much for your help.
before i get started, that above picture is the final product i should go for right? the reason i made such a terrible job of this (i know how to solder) is because i had to repeat everything like 50 times. i had my ck3 switch in wrong and i thought my soldering job was wrong so i kept on taking it off and on and off and on...etc until i found the freaking retarded problem. i can get this working but just need to confirm once and for all.

http://i39.tinypic.com/2d7vkhl.jpg
as shown, the black part is dead so i'll just have to put a wire over and redo the bottom pin.
on the flipside ill just connect a wire over?

is that all?

so i did everything you told me to do but it still didn't power up. im absolute sure i did the solder right again but it's still shorting out somewhere. does the solder/wire have to be inbetween the two dark green lines? because other than that i don't see where the problem is

actually is there any way i can just ignore the back side and do it on the flip side (or the top where the chips are all popping out). if only i can just leave the side i f***ed up alone and leave it as is as i work on a side thats clean to work with.

NEVERMIND:
thank thank thank you dream and everyone else.
i played around a bit and made sure everything was connected properly then scraped some of the butchered cuts i made and made sure they werent interfering in any way. i plugged everything in and boom it worked. now i just have to put everything together and make sure i did everything right!

thank you so much.

Hi Dream,
I lifted Pad 101 & 122. I read through the thread and cannot determine the exact fix. Also, after I fix the pads, how would I wire up the switch to dump and then write the firmware? Thank you very much.

This is an awesome thread. I learned alot. Can you please help me dream. I fried 207 plugging the power in wrong. I managed to replace it but doing so I lifted the trace a little. I didn't touch it for a week so I could practice soldering. Then I tried to dump it but pc wouldn't recognize. No life from drive at all with the exception of before I tried to repair I could get the tray to close with the xbox controller. The tray could barely do it like it wasn't getting the proper juice. Resistance is 105.8k. 3.3 line reads the proper voltage. Entire board stays cool. No other obvious damage anywhere. I fixed the cuts to see if a bridge to 101 would do anything. Same results as far as continuity. What do I do next? Thanks in advance. Tip for the brave enough to try....sharpened tip, 15 watts, and liquid flux.

dream. the resistor looking thing from pin 5 on the mtl chip lifted, dunno if its fixable. may just transplant the chip to a donor board.

badfish559,

Sorry i canīt help you.
Fired boardīs are all different so it is difficult to tell what is wrong.

My advice is, that you give the board to someone who knows what he is doing.

i can get a pic later, but in that yellow pic you had. the one going from the 3.3v chip leg to the middle cap was removed, im wondering if i sould just solder directly to the chip leg, but im gathering the missing cap is probably going to make the drive not work like it should.

OK

You donīt need to fix that. Just solder wire to MT pin 60.
