If I'm not mistaken, that's an eeprom that contains CPU patches.. in which case the data is unique to the cpu chip, just slapping in another will not work.

I do NOT give support by email, PM, ICQ or whatever. Anyone annoying me that way will have his balls removed. With a rusty butterknife. Slowly. And I'll enjoy doing it.

Can't you resolder the old chip back or get it to a professional for repair? BTW, how can you accidentally unsolder that?

Desoldering it shouldn't cause RRoD, as many people have removed the EEPROM back in the days where the console was shortly released. When the EEPROM was removed, the console was working fine, and the EEPROM dump was blank when they are attempted to be dumped. The only case where I have seen a RRoD caused by the EEPROM is where a mismatched chip (ie, taken from another console) was soldered in place.

How exactly do you unsolder a chip by accident? And whats the marker for the chip (ie. U8B3)

Are you sure the chip was in there to begin with?, not all Xenons had this EEprom if i remember correctly. (that would also explain why you cannot find it)
