My JTAG'd Falcon console is currently on the v13146 freeBoot, but since the update wasn't "legit" like it would be when it installed normally, I am pretty sure that the new DVD firmware was not flashed. I have looked into the update package and found the firmware updates, but they are just xex files with the firmware binaries as resources. Since Microsoft is able to flash the drive during an update, is it possible to get this installed on a JTAG'd console? Possible through an xex? I would like to get this firmware installed so I can play any XGD3 disks I buy in the fall.
My drive is a LiteOn 7xxxx series. I do not have the tools, resources, or experience to take the drive out and flash it. So a way to update the firmware like Microsoft does during updates would be very convenient and beneficial.

There is no need to update the firmware, XDG3 will work on stock old firmware.

It's a cover scam to push out their evil new firmware. Is there any firmware updates for XGD1 to XGD2, no there is not. Also played XDG3 Reach on Jtag on Stock firmware.

should you really wish to have the correct fw just load your old OFW into JF as source then load the new CFW LT1.9 and hit spoof then flash the drive
pretty simple to need a thread about.....

I was just asking if there was a way to flash the firmware via software like the 360 does it when it updates. I don't have any flashing tools so I wanted to know if I could get the new firmware without ripping the box open.

at the moment there is no homebrew apps available for JTAG to flash the drives, but it would be pretty cool.

Now that MS teaches us how to unlock and flash the drives (using their ODD updater code) it's doable

It would be kind of ironic to use a JTAG to flash, but you won't hear me complain about it

You can use a JTAG to change a drive's DVD key without reprogramming the drive through vendor mode, regardless if it's stock or not...

Even if you wanted to flash a LT package, there wouldn't be much of a point. Since it is an SMC hacked box, you have the option to run games from other/faster devices.

Why would he ever wanted to be banned using faster devices unsigned??? Kidding, I don't see the point either, but you know how people is... Of course, you can burn your games in xfat format in a spacey disk, and it will boot even if there's no LT+, simply with stock firm... Obviously, on a jtag... but again, why would he ever wanted to get online with a jtag? there's no point...

He is not talking about going online with a SMC hacked console. He is talking about flashing modified firmware to dvd-drives using a SMC hacked console (using the commands that microsoft used in their update 13146 to flash drives).

I don't think that is worth the trouble ... It is, ONLY if it's a method to bypass the slim drive write protection. Which I find unlikely...

We have to wait for a future update to see if they flash the locked drives again. If they do we will have the unlock command and we would hace a nice clean method to flash drives with our JTAG's . But as you say it will be very unlikely.
