REALLY sorry if this has been covered before - i have searched and found nothing.
Generally im over all embarassed to have to ask this.

I have the XDK (leggit of course....*whistles*) and an xbox capable of running the code that the xdk would produce. I have visual studio 2008 pro installed. im not a programming newbie - i have already got 2 games out on indie games and done quite well for myself - i now wanna contribute to the homebrew scene but for the bloody life of me cant work out where to start.

I assume there should be a default project or similar in VS but im not seeing it and generally feeling like an idiot. Any guidance would seriously be appreciated.

First off you need to install VS 2005 if you are using an old version of the SDK.

Is there a way to trick the XDK into thinking visual studio 2005 is installed?  I cannot find a version of visual studio 2005 anywhere, and seem to only have access to the 2008 express editions.

I am thinking, there has got to be a way to fully install the XDK and make it work with VS2008.

No, vs2005 and vs2008 are not compatible, even the syntax is different. So not a chance.

That's just the leaked XDK readily available on torrents, how is that anything legit ?
The only legit way to get the XDK is to be an xbox360 licensee and have a legit xds account (in which case you would have the lastest xdk by now.)

I hate it when someone claims leaked software to be something "legit"...
