just tried this and couldnt get it to work, i too used a 500gb hd and my sectors came out the same as yours. 360xplorer seemed to work with the drive could see all partitions etc so started copying over my saves which went fine, put the drive in the xbox and it could see any of the content, even tried fatxplorer which wouldnt even open the drive il try again tomorow just in case i missed something stupid U said u put the drive in to ur xbox and could see the content right? that you couldn't get it to load in FATXplorer ? I wasn't 100% sure about a step that I did to make it work in FATXplorer . I was oging to test that out later on with my buddies drive. Don't feel like going though all the steps on my 500gs HDD. If can see your stuff on the xbox 360. Then use the program corruptsector used to reformat the drive. http://www.xboxhacker.org/index.php?topic=13125.msg93570#msg93570 It will then work with FATXplorer and still work with ur xbox 360. If u can wait until friday sometime I'll have that part corrected. I did alittle more to it then that.

Are u copying the content on the 20gb drive or is it fresh? if its fresh then u will have to put something in there first.

tried again, put the drive straight in the xbox after restoring the partitions and everthing that was on my 20gb is there but still cant see it using fatxplorer etc, the fat32 formatter for some reason wont run on my pc comes up with the error "failed to determine the drive" i tried to run it straight after zero'ing the drive and after i restored it, got the same message both times. Any ideas ?

Try newest version of Modio to view your hard drive. Works great for me.

ok i am at my buddies house now i'll update the guild later on tonight. Edit: I did everything to my buddies 160gb HDD as I said in the guild. It work just fine. A little note the 20gb drive I made the first.bin and the second.bin was reformatted and only had a profile put on it and the Hdd was renamed.

@magnus you sad on the part of your guide, restoring the padding.bin: you restore it with sector 9998663. but on the picture you provided shows the sector is in 9998664. which of the two that we will follow?

MagnusHydra, would formatting a large HDD in NXE dash which has been hexed to work like OEM work?
I believe MS dash only formats partition 3.
Also, does the method outlined in this thread allow content to be viewed properly via Le Fluffie and FatXplorer?

Hi
I followed the steps and got my data off my 20GB drive and onto my 320GB drive.
The xbox picks up the drive correctly and I can access all data (saves, profiles) as per normal. XexLoader also picks up Partition 3 and allowed me to copy some games to it and run them from it.
Unfortunately neither Xplorer360, nor Xport show any data under partition 3 or 1. My partition 2 shows three folders, "Compatability", "TDBX" and "index".
Have I missed a step?

A lager HDD formatted with the xbox 360 only makes partition 3. U will have to hex edit it to work like an OEM drive. last question yes. As u can see from my pic. Also the user post over says Modio works too?

Has anybody had trouble with copying games to the expanded HD? XeXLoader will randomly freeze (completely) while copying a game from a USB hard drive to the internal. It's not the copy bug either... I was able to copy these games to the original drive without it freezing.

MagnusHydra can you please clarify your numbers, there appear to be abnomilies in your guide, for instance your firstpart.bin when ripped is sectors 0-9998663 for a total of 9998664 sectors. In the section for writing to the new drive you seem to have 9998665 sectors to restore ? Similar thing with padding.bin when its ripped its 228929 sectors yet when you restore it its 228928 sectors, there are other things as well. If my name.txt is at 10227592 does this look right: orig 20gb rip sectors 0 - 9998663 firstpart.bin sectors 9998664 - 39070079 secondpart.bin 500gb sectors 0 - 9998663 firstpart.bin total 9998664 sectors sectors 9998664 - 10227591 padding.bin total 228927 sectors sectors 10227592 - secondpart.bin total 29071416 sectors please help this is driving me crazy

Tried it, no go. Partition 3 doesn't work (xplorer360) or the app finds no HDD or even crashes (le fluffie, modio).
edit: if you use name.txt to locate the start of the new hdd partition 3, shouldn't you also use name.txt to identify the starting sector of the original HDD, to copy over?

I can't neccessarily speak for MagnusHydra's method, because it differs slightly to mine, but I can access my hard drive using FATXplorer, modio, le fluffie and xplorer360. Sadly they all seem a little dodgy when trying to move lots of things at once. To get xplorer360 working with 500gb the magic number is 00 40 73 at offset F0C0 in Xplorer360_09b6_250gb.exe.
The way to work out the magic number for modding Xplorer360 is to follow the instructions for finding name.txt in my post earlier, so you should get 0x1381F0000 as the offset on 500gb. Then subtract 0x130eb1000 to get 0x7340000. Drop a zero, and group into pairs (73 40 00) then reverse the order to get 00 40 73.
