Just curious if anyone used a USB to sata for hitachi. I read that Hitachi has to be in mode b and mode b is in windows. So hypothetically, windows detect USB drives right?
Please help. I only got a laptop
NO FLaming plz. this is a legit question.
thx

I havent already applied the patch for Hitachi, but i successfully connected the XBOX360 Hitachi drive to my PC with a SATA-USB adapter. I make it work under Windows using the VMWare method... i patched, on my VMWare linux box, the USB module to correctly detect the Hitachi drive, then i sent it the modeb command. Then, i stopped VMWare and i got the drive detected under Windows. From there i can read its flash, key and so on. I used a bulk USB-SATA adapter found on eBay.

Hi! From what I understand reading your post/guide MacDennis, you can't use USB in mktflash, so how exactly does one "flash" the firmware? The topic author is asking if he can flash his HITACHI with the HITACHI firmware as I understand it, but USB won't work with MKTFLASH? I'm on linux if that helps in any way. Thank You Yeah.. I bought an expensive USB - SATA adapter yesterday, just so I wouldn't have to buy SATA PCI. P.S sorry if I haven't read or fully understand your guide yet, i've had a terrible day

You don't need MKTFlash, that's for Toshiba Samsung only.

Ah splendid it's just weird evry other forum seems to think it's not possible, even crappy xbox-scene forums That's because that audience is only looking for the one-click simple solution. It will take some time to get it up and running but it will work for sure since I've been doing writing and reading the Hitachi FW with usb-sata adapter myself.

Utter Chao's way works like a charm. I was struggling to get my USB to Sata adapter to work for a whole week until I found out about Chao's method. You're the man, Chaos!
