I have got xbreboot running on my 360 already, but there is still some issues with lag in around 60% of my games. I was wondering, is there any way of patching the more stable freeboot to run off a single nand?

i wondered this also and asked the guys at free60 who could not give me a reasonable answer.
first i was told that the cygnos switched between the NAND during bootup which was why two were needed, both NAND images were patched (confirmed by the freeboot readme)
then i read up on the xd card mod, which contradicts the last statement as it only has a manual switch and uses one NAND only.
so what is the need for two NANDS? if the XD card mod can run freeboot from an external NAND only, why cant freeboot run from the onboard?

I have a feeling FreeBoot will be created (Or at least encouraged with $) by the people behind the cygnos, the dual nand requirement will be an artificial limitation to help encourage sales of the chip.

freeboot is related to cygnos
so why release single nand Freeboot images, if you have a dual nand modchip for sale?

I was making a comment to all the people with the tin foil hats on. Who thinks everyone is in ca-hoots with everyone else trying to steal the precious dollars. READ: Theory of Cygnos paying freeBOOT to keep it dual nand. EDIT: Maybe even XBR is involved. Give people a taste of the rebooter, only to be disappointed with freeze issues. Forced everyone back to freeBOOT/cygnos. Please. |

Maybe so people go to the forums and see how much harder the xD card mod soldering is and give up and buy a cygnos   |

That uses the infectus to program a nand chip and you then install that in the xbox, I was wanting to use the infectus as the 2nd nand device like a cygnos. Just read up and see that onboard it has only a 512K chip, i presumed it was much larger (my fault sorry!). still i have a xd card (16MB) and that ricoh reader/writer so perhaps xd card mod is the answer. |

The Cygnos is a fine chip and easy to install, so if you can't do the trace cutting I guess you get what you pay for.
freeBOOT certainly boost sales of the chip but they don't support it on their forum so there ain't any proof they created it I guess.
I also don't think XBR was purposely made to lag the console, that goes a bit far:P
