Xenon 1903 running "1920" XBR_8955_1 (the original, not the 1921 version) with KV/Config from 7371 Kernel => Lags/Freezes
Trials HD is absolutly not playable, lags terrible... Other that that, Assassin's Creed 2 and L4D2 have had these problems, others (COD: MW2, MX Vs ATV Reflex) don't

I can confirm the freezes and lags on xenon 1903cb. Need for Speed most wanted locks up when loading the career. Mirror's Edge just runs a lot slower than it should.

I understand. You found paradise in America, you had a good trade, you made a good living. The police protected you and there were courts of law. And you didn't need a friend like me. But, uh, now you come to me, and you say: "Don Corleone, give me justice." But you don't ask with respect. You don't offer friendship. You don't even think to call me Godfather. Instead, you come into my house on the day my daughter is to be married, and you ask me to do murder for money.

Getting freezes here to. Using a Falcon with XBR V.5. Hopefully the XBR god's will fix this. I wonder what in the patching scheme is causing this to happen. Would this work.....just wondering. Since XBR exhibits this layout. XBReboot Block Layout:
Ox00 - 0x2F 4548 boot FW 0x30 - 0x3F Backup Xell 0x40 - 0x4F XBRfw.bin Rebooter core 0x50 - 0xBF Patch.bin Kernel and patches 0xC0 - 0x?? Flash file system
and Freeboot .02 has a "patches_falcon.bin" ( i don't fully understand all Freeboot's bin files, maybe its not that one), could we sub the patches from freeboot .02 into XBR, thus alleviating the freezing issue for now. I'm prolly off my rocker, but I'd like to solve this problem, and if Freeboot is working, why don't we just implment those patches into XBR for the time being. Could someone help me with this project? If it's even conceivable. I'm just thinking that if they are both patching the kernal at specific spots, then something that XBR does is freezing the kernel.(Assuming its just the patches that are causing this and not XBR's alternate layout/filesystem) Maybe its XBR's Notes:
There is no need to unpack and repack pirs files! This is a limitation of freeboot. Not XBR. Aside from that major difference, all functionality is the same.
That kinda screams, freezing to me. Just ideas. Maybe you just need to refrain from commenting on something without having actual knowledge of how things work? How would PIRS/LIVE containers have anything to do with full games freezing?

Okay, so what is your hardware revision? It is a Xenon with 1903 CB. But the lags are definately not ROD related if you think so. It is a dualnand Console, so I was able to try out XBR and freeboot. XBR lags, freebot doesn´t.

Assassin's Creed 2 is lagging and freezing terribly for me, though other games work. I had a xenon with 1888/7371, which now has xbr on it. I updated it as described in the readme with the keyvault and config block, though my configuration options seemed to get lost, ie I had to set the resolution and auto-login again.

note to others that have a Xenon (if they have issues) i was not able to get this flash "XBR_Xenon_8955_1" to work, i would get the rrod at power up after 10 or so seconds. it didn't matter if i injected the kv or not. no christmas lights, just rrod. then i followed these instructions that someone else posted here http://forum.hektosoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=13&start=0basically you use XBR_Xenon_8955_0 as your base and then take out xell and another part from XBR_Xenon_8955_1. this worked for me, but alot of my arcade games were freezing, and some were unplayable. (i'm not complaining here) i was looking through xbins and noticed another bin on there called "XBR_Xenon_1921_8955_1.bin" i'm assuming that's for people that have a xenon with cb/cd version 1921 (which i do) so i followed the same instructions from the first page except i used XBR_Xenon_1921_8955_1.bin i flashed that on top of my already modified bin (0 + xell & patch from 1) which ended up in E71 for some reason. i decided to give it another try, but this time i flashed it to original first and then i flashed it with XBR_Xenon_1921_8955_1.bin (+ kv and config) and it worked. Some of the games work alot better now, some still experience freezing. it's not perfect but it's alot better than it was for me. (again i'm not complaining) i know it can only get better from here.

try to open the program in xplorer360 extreme 2
Maybe I did it wrong... shows only partition1, but can't see anything. I'm on winXP, 010 editor won't show my drive to open, gonna try in vista, there I was able to do it. Update: still the same, only shows partition1 but nothing visible, no other partition.

mine is flashed with xbr_1 and kv + config blocks... still slowing down and freezing... strange thing is when i dont have HDD plugged in, and therefore no profile signed in, the game goes on for longer time before it starts to slow down... with HDD and Profile it happens almost instantly.. this was playing a DL DVD with Street Fighter 4 burned to it... hitachi 1.6 ixtreme firmware....
hopefully we can hear whats gone wrong soon...

this may not be the right spot for this question, but maybe someone know the answer.
Does anyone know what difference the 2 different wiring methods make on the xenon board? (3 resistors vs 2 diodes and jumper)

the SMC is 3.3V signals going to the 1.8V GPU. The resistors attempt to protect the GPU by acting as a current limiter. The diodes are a better way because they convert the signals to an open-drain configuration, when the SMC drives the line hi, the SMC is effectively disconnected and a pullup resistor on the board pulls the line to 1.8V instead.

thanks for the explanation!
this leads me to another question, since the resistors aren't as good as the diodes, could having resistors instead of diodes be causing freezing in games or is that purely software related?

That's purely the software. The game data isn't transferred through the jtag port afterall.

Hello people,
first thanks for all those sweet pieces of software.
Then just to "+1" as a successfull modder of a zephyr xbox.
Mine already had tje jtag/smc/RF mod and was able to run linux debian.
So i just took the xbr then injected my prior nand's backup conf/kv in it and reflashed it using "lflash" and i worked good on first time.
I also added the xexloader after that and now all the expected features are working awesomely.
Really easy and safe to realise, didn't take me more than 5mins (the most time expensive operation was to copy over the xbr'ed nand to the console by ssh actually ^_^/).
So thanks again, especially to tmbinc for lflash which spared me the hassle of taking appart the board and soldering it once more :p
