So I got out of the Xbox scene because I started playing World of Warcraft, and lucky for me, I never logged on live over the summer, so my kernel is still 7371, or 7173 I forget which, but either way perfectly hackable. My motherboard is a Xenon, and quite old (so old in fact I believe the timing attack would still work) I understand I have to dump my NAND, but I need an LPT port on my PC, and I don't have an LPT port. However, a quick eBay search renders many USB to IDE adapters that are all very cheap, and also some more expensive (barely) PCI to LPT cards. I don't want to waste money, and I want to get this right, so I want to know what to get that will work with dumping my NAND.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

yeah lowering the default reading speed from 12x to let's say 5x, would really let GTA4 (or any of your games) benefit from way less popups and loading times.

From what I remember PCI to LPT cards do not work with nand pro.

Something to do with the address of the card (Mind you there have been updates to nandpro that I haven't been following).

But seriously, either get a cygnos chip and do everything over the built in usb.

Or get an Olimex LPC-H2148, either way, much easier/faster/better than any lpt method you will find.

Here's what you will need from sparkfun to get the Olimex up and running:

and something like this to flash the Olimex itself:

OK well I found an LPT port. It's just a header on my motherboard but I can use it (I hope) I set it to port 378 (IIRC) in the BIOS, which AFAIK is the default port for LPT ports. HOwever, there are 2 settings I'm unsure about. IRQ, which can be IRQ7 or IRQ5, and the Port Mode - Normal, EPP, ECP, EPP + ECP, now in the nandpro readme it says to use SPP mode, so I'm thinking EPP is the closest however I'm not sure.

Can someone tell me waht I should put for these two options?

And I Have a xenon board, do I need the 2 diodes and the jumper wire to dump the nand? or do I just need the lpt 7 wire hookup? Thanks

Set it to IRQ 5. You might have conflicts, but i doubt it. If you do, switch to 7.

SPP = Standard Parallel Port

I'm guessing 'normal' is the same as standard, so go with that.

I've seen other people have success with other settings, but I'm not sure how solid they are.

I'm not going to spend 65 dollars for something that I can make for almost free.

I just wanted to let you know that I also have no lpt port but i did have the header on the mobo like you have.

I have nothing but success using that and also i found that EPP has worked perfect for me everytime. hope this helps Wink

I have also found EPP to work the best for myself, but from what I have read on various forums I would probably say stick with the Standard Port Protocol (SPP) unless you have problems, then switch to EPP Cheesy.

Regards.
