I'm working on a Xbox360 Elite. The Lite-on DG-16D2S Drive is not reading anymore. This system was purchased from Gamestop so I do not know previous history on it. The owner has been playing online for about 6 months since he got this system and so I feel system is clean and does not have past history of mods. It appears as though it has been to M$ because it has colored seal that "was" intact before this guy broke it or so he says. Also it has a lite-on drive dated May 2008 when system is dated June 2007.
My main goal here is to repair this xbox360 without leaving any traces that might be detectable and get it banned. I DO NOT want to load ixtreme on this drive, I want to keep it stock as my friend is avid online player. I can read firmware and have key. The drive is not spoofed or loaded with ixtreme so again I think M$ replaced the drive in this system. I don't believe that mid 2007 boxes came with Lite-ons. At least I haven't seen any. Since drive is dated 2008, i would think it would be spoofed if someone besides M$ replaced it.
Anyway here are my thoughts and concerns.
If this was other than Lite-on I would just remove board from bad drive and install on new drive and feel confident that system would still be 100% stock.
However with Lite-on drive and the fact that the Key is derived from drive serial Number, Laser serial number and circuit board serial number. It seems to me that changing laser or board might cause a detectable device.
Or flashing new drive with this key that would not match the serial number set may also.
Does anyone have any experience with this and have any insight as to the best way to fix this system and keep it M$ safe.

you can just use jungleflasher to read the full firmware..
then get the exact same drive and load the firmware you have read shouldn't be any problems..
other choice is to just change the laser..
I highly doubt they check the laser....

You can't dump the full firmware of a liteon. There's currently no liteon original firmware, so you can't flash it to stock firmware.
And the key has nothing to do with the laser or pcb serial.

I assumed since jungle flasher can recreate lost bin from barcodes on each of the labels that the key was derived from the serials of the pcb, laser and drive.
I know I shouldnt assume, but seemed logical.

swapping pcb is exactly what I would do if any other drive than lite-on. if anyone would confirm for me that I can do that without detection, then that is how I would proceed even though it requires soldering on lite-on drive.

I'm pretty sure that Microsoft does not have agents that breaks into the player's house at night, open their consoles, and checks if there are signs of soldering on the DVD drive wires.

Yeh, I guess I deserved that.
The whole point of this thread was that I believed the key to be linked to serial numbers on lite-on's individual parts. I may be completely off base, but since Jungle Flasher can recreate a lost bin from the barcodes on the laser, pcb and drive serial number plate. I surmised that the serial numbers of these were linked and changing one of these parts like say the pcb might cause a detectable change. Such as a crc of the components serial numbers that would no longer result in correct response to inquiry. I'm not saying this is correct, I'm hoping its not and looking for confirmation one way or the other.
bottom line, I am looking for advice to keep my friends system stock and undetectable.
Can anyone explain to me how jungle flasher can use barcodes from pcb, drive serial plate and laser to recreate lost bin if serial numbers are NOT related to key?

I did not say it could recreate key, I only meant the serial data portion of the bin which I assume is part of the firmware packet on the liteon drive. and if jungle flasher needs the key, and barcode serials from PCB, Laser and chassis... doesn't that mean that the Key and all of those serials are somehow in bedded in the firmware and therefore capable of being queried and part of response?
that's my only justification for this line of thought is that if jungle flasher needs all the serial numbers for each piece of the drive. Then isn't that data included in the firmware when we write it? and if it is in the firmware, then mixing up serial number pieces seems like it could cause detection. now maybe I just need to include the serials of the my new combination of laser, pcb and chassis when flashing drive to be ok?? hmm, I wonder if jungle flasher would let me rebuild serial data with mismatched set of serials?? if so, then probably just flashing new key would be fine also. This is what Im asking. Ive flashed probably 50 or 60 drives and ive had to rebuild the serial data on a couple of lite-ons which is what got me thinking about the ability to just replace PCB and be safe??
Im just trying to replicate a perfectly stock drive. Since the general consensus seems to be that its not the ixtreme that is being being detected by m$ to ban consoles, but maybe timing and inquiry responses, im just trying to error on the side of caution to repair a stock box and keep it stock and undetectable. Its obvious that m$ chose the liteon in an attempt to either thwart flashing or to make it easier for them to detect. No other drive requires serial data as part of flash. Sorry I cant remember at the moment who brought us all these great programs like jungle flasher and ixtreme, but he/they know far more than I ever will about the contents and inquiries of these drives.
Jungle flasher serial entry page requires:
"quote"
To rebuild the Serial Data you must copy the information from the physical drive itself, into the boxes in the applet shown. The data required is located in 4 places: 1. The Drive Chassis / Shell 2. The Hardware Revision of the drive 3. The Laser 4. The PCB of the drive itself
Sincerely, Magna

No. The SAME data is on all four of those locations. It's giving you options where to look.

I did not understand your reply. The data on each of those barcodes is different and all of them are required to rebuild serial data??

all the information is stored on the pcb itself includeing the serial data... the barcodes are just another place to get that data... not actually stored on the laser etc!. If you swap the pcb over all serial data will be the same as before... just because it will be using a different laser doesn't mean it has to be the info on that lasers barcode... it will still have to be the same as the old one. Just swap the pcbs and everything will be as it it should.
