My guess is just open iX1.6 for 838 in a hex editor and do a search for "83850C" and replace with "93450C", and do the same for the serial number

I don't have a 93450 drive to play with yet so it's just a guess, can't hurt to try
Which serial number, console serial number?

MRA, your 22 ohm pull-down would need to be at least .5W correct?  Theoretically of course since the drive circuit most certainly cannot output 150mA and maintain 3.3V.

22 ohms is a pretty strong pull down.  Any particular reason why you chose that?  Internal pulls are likely to be > 10 Kohm so I would think 500 ohm to 1k ohm would still be suitable.

When you release hacks to the public they get PATCHED. When they get PATCHED.....WE ALL LOSE. The "scene" Loses.

before Geremia posted here in italy someone was selling modified 93850.....why you talk about Geremia ruins the scene and not about that people?
please answer to this simple question? or you think that "is not public" so M$ don't understand that someone hacked the drive? LOL

There has to be one badass pullup on pin 101 and/or 122 because even a 100ohm pulldown didnt even affect the voltage -- thats with both pins connected to 3.3 and both pins lifted.

Another interesting fact; with both pins lifted the drive amazingly enough works as the voltage floats at around 2.5

The fact is, this scene is a ungrateful whore. Ungrateful, biased and horribly naive. Learn a little and then come to the plate and make accusations.

We're not all ungrateful, I for one am very appreciative of all the hard work put in, now and in the past, by everyone involved in the scene.

I think the problem is that most people are siding with geremia as they don't seem to realise that the information he released means that particular backdoor will now be closed whereas had it been kept secret you guys could have used this route to find an alternate method for key dumping on current and future drives.  It's pretty obvious that ms knew nothing of this method, if they had then they surely would have made some preventative measures so it couldn't be exploited on lo93.

You mentioned previously that work was progressing on a new method for the lo93, can I ask if this was looking promising or maybe the lo93 actually was that 'last resort' situation?  Who knows, ms may have been planning completely new drives after the 93 anyway in which case releasing this info does no harm at all.

Either way, what's done is done, personally I can't vilify geremia for giving the game away, like many people he was unhappy with the way the whole thing was being handled (foundmy) and decided to do something to stop the same thing happening again.  Also, with re-epoxyed drives out in the wild someone was going to work out what was going on eventually anyway.

Personally I think if it wasn't for the whole foundmy fiasco we wouldn't be in this situation now.  As I've said, I'm truly grateful to everyone involved in the scene and it's great how everyone works together so well.  I also think that the level of knowledge required and hours of work put in shouldn't go unrewarded but at the end of the day you're meant to be doing this because it's something you enjoy and not for financial benefit, right now it looks to me like greed took over.  Maybe next time you should just ask for contributions/donations. Undecided

Im sure we would all be grateful if you hacked the ps3 (or assembled a team to do so, since you dont actually have the skills do it!)

you could do what you want - make lots  and lots of money !! think about it.. you rolling in moo-la!! or bs?

which do you prefer?  Grin

Why are you guys giving Iriez such a hard time? I can totally see what he's saying and where he's coming from. He provides Xbins for free and can somebody please cite when he's tried to make money off the scene?

Iriez: it was written before... there is no way m$ didnt know how the hack works and how it will work even if no one have details release...
program like jf... and tutorial how to is all m$ want and need, no more details is needed for them... dont U think so?

No. You are completely and entirely wrong.

How do you think MS knows HOW we are obtaining the fw? You think they are just guessing? Jesus christ where is the LOGIC ? People you gotta rationalize with me. To all of you who are talking $#!t: Make sense.

Make sense and I will discuss it with you. Rationalize. Bring some logic and consistancy.

NO. MS does NOT know how we are doing what we are doing. Its a wild effing stab in the dark. Whoever thinks otherwise doesnt know what the hell they are talking about.

How does selling a modified drive disclose the method?

Logic people. use it.

And that 'person' doing it was one of the people responsible for the hacks in the first place. If anyone has a right to modify systems its probably him.

Maybe next time I shouldnt set myself up as a puppet for c4e so that I get blamed for everything. That was my mistake, and im paying tenfold for it. I didnt ask for anything in the first place. It was c4e who was trying to cash in (cash for klunkers!)

You are correct on many levels. Thanks for the insight and opinions.

As for how close it was? Ask TMF Smiley He said he's going to release info....I cant wait to see it!

Guys, stay on topic please...
Either take your arguments in a non technical section, or take it back to XB-S

Valid point! Lets keep this thread for it's intended purpose, however it is inevitable I guess that it deteriorates into a slanging match between some people.
Just remember friends, people don't owe anyone anything in this scene, we should all be grateful for what has been released past present and future, however, having said that, no need to dwell on the past, iriez, it's too late mate, against your ideals the method is in the wild now, that's the nature of things I guess. I am in agreeance with previous poster when he said something along the lines of the whole foundmy situation left a bad taste in everyone's mouth, for some, it's a shame the cat's out the bag sure but it is.
Geremia, I completely understand where you are coming from and applaud you for not getting involved in the politics.

Can anyone suggest which version of dosflash to use?? I can't seem to get 1.8 to run properly (it's probably got something to do w/ the new command set) I've tried using an older one pre-liteon and JF but the best I get is 0x52 . It could also have something to do with trying to use pin 122 rather than 101 (It snapped off, seems you can only bend it 3 times b4 it work-hardens)

Brgds all, Dan

PS: It is getting difficult to read thru all this 'non-technical' rhetoric
