I see people can not wait few days and poking in the dark.
Really a shame.

(short from 1,8V to 3,3V)
If you like kill your drive so go on.

Holy crap, was I actually right about this with no electronics knowledge at all lol

well, yes, it violates some good design principles but what a hell, it works !!  some modchips (even my loved passkey) did it forcing 0 logic over a live bus (causing technically a "short) but its the way it is, physical laws does not obey man rules, thats whats we call "hacking" he he

It is NOT a short between 1,8V and 3,3V, thats why you have to lift pin 122 as well. Because just 101 and 122 are internally connected. I lifted all 3,3V pins to make sure that this is correct! But I already considered to use a resistor to make it more secure, but more on that tomorrow, at least I hope to find time to improve the whole thing.

As I already said: for now this method need some nuts! Wink

If it's really THAT easy... short a pin.. then do you think c4eva did the same trick earlier instead of decap in acid or something?

I understand. You found paradise in America, you had a good trade, you made a good living.
The police protected you and there were courts of law.
And you didn't need a friend like me.
But, uh, now you come to me, and you say: "Don Corleone, give me justice."
But you don't ask with respect.
You don't offer friendship.
You don't even think to call me Godfather.
Instead, you come into my house on the day my daughter is to be married, and you ask me to do murder for money.

well from the knowledge we have of a guy offering to hack the 9x version and removing just one corner we can figure out that you just bridge 100 and 101 using a switch... or at least I think thats it -- not sure about about necessity of lifting pins. Id try it myself but Im not at my office

For liteon 83 v1 and v2 dump:
0x1C138
0x1CAEC
0x1C742
0x1C680
0x1CECD
0x1CB34
0x1C83F
0x1C725
0x1C52A
0x1C201
0x1C9DF
0x1C023
0x1C4A0
0x1C59A
0x1C3FE
0x1CF49

For liteon 74 (and possible same for liteon 93):
0x1E138
0x1EAEC
0x1E742
0x1E680
0x1EECD
0x1EB34
0x1E83F
0x1E725
0x1E52A
0x1E201
0x1E9DF
0x1E023
0x1E4A0
0x1E59A
0x1E3FE
0x1EF49

just load the bin on JF and will show you the key, the above locations were get replacing the key and hexcomparing

not all 74xxx fw has dvdkey area at 1Exxx, cause there are 2 type of 74xxx fw out here afaik.
One has it at 1Exxx (which is the base fw of ixtreme), while the other has it at 1Cxxx.
btw, the other 74xxx fw is 99,9% the same of a 93450 i've here, liteon just patched it in hexeditor, they disabled the uart and truncated the atapi cdb to dump dvdkey.

Yes, its important to wait till updated Aplications go out that identify properly the key location, meanwhile just keep your original just in case you miss the proper location, as Geremia say, there could be several location (like on the old loved hitachi 78/79)

Sorry If this seems like a stupid question but,  After Dosflash goes 0x72 do you then need to do a dump of FF's to fool controller or can you just dump apon throwing switch??

I think modfreakz method could be little different but anyway the method MRA published its working confirmed from several sources, so lets move to whatever is next.

by the sounds of it, modfreakz method doesn't require putting 3.3v on the 1.8 pin. I did get it to dump half way just by lifting the 1.8 pin but it froze? wouldn't work again after that, might hav ejust been coincidence

Its actually connect 1.8volts to the 3.3volt pin -- so instead of receiving 3.3v it receives 1.8.

So is there any other way of dropping the voltage on a pin from the more electrically educated here, from my research adding a pull down resister on the 3.3v pin to ground will cause the voltage to drop. So a 10k resistor connected to 101 and ground should do it. I don't know if it has to be lifted but if some antsy soul wants to try it, go for it.

Hi me again sorry but I was wondering if you could clarify you say :use a 2-way switch which either connects 101 to 3,3V or to 100
PIN 101 = 3.3v also PIN 122 = 3.3v (According to data sheet) which 3.3v do you mean ?? Can you please clarify this ?? Do you mean the 3.3v at 122 or from the +3.3 Vcc Rail? I just need to be sure as it's not my drive to brick  Smiley

Thanks for sharing all , Dan

Lifting these pins looks awfully tricky, anyone have any tips on how to do it without f***ing your whole chip up?

yeah lowering the default reading speed from 12x to let's say 5x, would really let GTA4 (or any of your games) benefit from way less popups and loading times.
