Who is going to crack the new drive when it comes out? Geremia? Nope. c4e? Maybe...but when geremia takes one of the few holes LEFT and releases it to the public...it gets PATCHED. Then the tools to do the job are limited.

I will put it more simply for you naive trolls:

We are a Hot-Rod car group. We all like to drive fast. To be in our club you have to drive over 140mph on XBH road. However cars have a sensor in them that prevents you from driving over 120mph due to the legal limitations of 'safe driving' (read: xbox live, safe play, piracy, the prevention there of , etc).

Well, we have tools that disable the sensor from being activated. We have bypasses on that sensor that allows us to be in the club and to preform the racing we like (the modding, the hacking, etc. Vurnerabilities, etc).

Well, Geremia told the public HOW we disable the sensor. He released the method.

Now that the method is 'out in the public' the maker of the car/sensor can now FIX this lack of security in the sensor and can make the car NOT go over 120 (prevent us from dumping the drive).

Now when the NEW car comes out and we all want to upgrade, or when NEW members want to join our club, they want to buy a car. But the NEW cars cannot go over 120mph! The HOLES have been patched! Why? Because people like geremia who THINK they are doing good (and in some cases ARE doing good) but in the end, in the LONG RUN.....end up hurting.

Without publication of vurnerabilities, the likelihood of NON PUBLICIZED hacks being patched is MUCH Less likely! Im not as ignorant to think it will never happen, but its *much less likely* to happen.

@ bar807 from what i have understand the 93450 still uses the 83850 inquiry string, so you can use 838 firmwares

I have tried 83850c ixtreme and 74850c. Both give error 66

You have to cross spoof the firmware. JF will not be sufficient for this.

 if you want to make your soldering permenant then the easy way would be to get a 4 port jumper switch and that would allow you to switch between normal and programming mode just run the wires to a suitable easy access location and that way once its done its ready to go at any time

Hellowe tested 83850C firmware on 93450C undumbale drive. It runs OK. So IXTREME 1.6 83850C is ok for unmoddable drives.

or there's something else the matter with your system, why it won't work.

No pin lifting or epoxy removing needed anymore! Just solder anything on the back according to this picture.
Also if you got status 0x52 instead of 0x72 with the "1,8V-method" this should do it. I already dumped 4 drives with this method without any issues.

-switch in pos 1
-power drive
-start Dosflash --> SPI should get recognized with status 0x72
-put switch in pos 2
-click "read"

unsolder anything and reconnect the lines that have been cut.

Just did it like this, and it worked perfectly. However Radioshack doesn't carry 22ohm resistors, I just used 2 10ohm resistors in a series, worked fine. Also, I used 1/2 watt resistors like someone said earlier to use, they worked fine. I had a little trouble getting it to work in Windows 7 and JF, but eventually I did, I'm thinking in dos using DosFlash would have been much more problem free. But maybe it's just my PC/SATA chipset, who knows. This was a 7xxx drive that I had flashed with a .bin file that I took an md5 of, read it back using this method, same md5, so this method works perfectly.

And to the drama out there, what's done it done, so stop bickering about it, when the new liteon 10xxx drive comes out with this problem patched...well...we'll deal with it when it comes, but until then we can't change the past, so lets gets some ix LT for the 838v2 and 9xxx drives....

But Iriez... if you deactivate the sensor, it'll write into secdata.bin! Why don't you just modify the firmware? It's much better
Most new cars use soc, so you can't really modify the firmwares in private anymore, however there's almost always a flash with calibration data on it - maybe you can mess with that? Or are you just another IDEA MAN?

Ah, and before I forget - 120mph is too fast for you imho, you should stick with 35-40 on regular roads and 90 on the highway, it's safer that way, no need to rush

Sharing knowledge gets things done.  Keeping it secret gets nothing done and only slows a patch from MS a small amount.

So in Iriez's ideal world we have the following options?
- Don't offer any solution because MS may find out about it.
- Foundmy.com sells only solution.  What keeps MS from going after foundmy.com?

Regarding the previous foundmy.com solution, do you really think that would delay a patch from MS?  If they know the key is being extracted, and how, and that it's decrypted by a third party, I'd say that's enough info to decide to patch the key being extracted.  It doesn't matter that the third party knows a top secret way to decrypt the key, that's not going to stop them from patching it.  I understand this scenario is a bit different since this is actually a method of how to get the key, but still, it's either no solution or ms patches the solution.  There really isn't much room for middle ground.

My guess is just open iX1.6 for 838 in a hex editor and do a search for "83850C" and replace with "93450C", and do the same for the serial number

I don't have a 93450 drive to play with yet so it's just a guess, can't hurt to try
